@Evenflow I am not sure what company you are working with. I used to do a lot of work with Fiberwerx about 10 years ago. Their standard used to be that if you ordered 3 sets they would make the molds at no extra cost. That was 10 years ago but they would be worth reaching out to. They have some very cool technology they use these days to make fenders and I know 10 years ago their shaper was amazing. I know people have their own opinions about many of the companies but in recent years Fiberwerx build bodies for all the big 6100 Trophy Truck builders and such. They may be worth looking into.

    Interested in fronts and backs!

Sounds good, would be interested in some bedsides

And I don't think people understand that even with the body line in tact the overall rise/and out of the fender would make the snorkel sit crooked on the fender if you tried to make it work.... Or if it kept the overall shape it would sit too far out away from the A pillar to attach correctly without some sort of spacer/bracket. That's why @sytfu510 and @MJonaGS32 have custom snorkels that work with fiberglass fenders.

Very cool idea. @Evenflow I look forward to seeing it. And for those with Snokels, just DIY it if you want the wider fenders and don't want to modify your current ones. I had the Safari and sold it when I got glass. I even have the parts list I used to make mine in my build thread. So if/when these do come into production and you want to retain snorkel, sell your current, and just build one. Total cost was less than $150. (Mostly due to going all aluminum)

Check out my gallery for more pictures, but here's a front shot:

Working on it guys, trying to nail down all of the " wants " and cosmetic ideas before we go in for the actual first mock up. I'm PM'ing lots of folks but please keep posting feedback here in his thread as I start showing the ideas.

Working on determining the amount of flare / wheel coverage to create that will translate well for many different set ups. IE: if we were to build a fender flare that fully covered a 35x12.5 on a truck with a +2 kit then the flare probably still look o.k with 35's on a stock width kit but would look silly with any tire size less than a 35. I mocked up a few examples yesterday and would like to hear opinions because again the idea here is to build a one size fits all flare that will satisfy everyone from 285's and up including +2 kits.

All of these example were taken with my personal truck that has a Solo Motorsports +2 kit with 35x12.5's on 4.5 BS.

This first photo shows 2 things :

    1. When we cut our flares for larger tire clearance we actually lose width on the flare.

    2. How far the 35 sticks out with a +2 kit = 3.5". In a lot of states this will actually get you a fix it ticket. In speaking to a few folks across the country the most common exposed tread allowed is 2".

    image.jpg

This photo shows how wide the flare would need to be to get back to 2" of tire poking out with a +2 kit, with a stock width arm this would be full tire coverage for a 35. This also matches the width of the outside edge of my CBI plate bumper. ( outside edge of the ply )
    image.jpg

Here is a view from the rear, a couple of things to note here :

    1. The body of the truck tapers at the front and of course at the bottom too. Simply drawing a straighter line in both directions vs having the flare follow that taper down to the rocker provides a LOT more tire coverage.

Photos of the shape of the wheel opening mocked over the tire will be coming this weekend.

    image.jpg

Here is a photo of my personal truck so you can see the amount of cut out we are aiming for so the flare will truly clear a 35 at bump. These clear lock to lock up front and at full articulated stuff in the back.

    image.jpg

Also - working on sourcing bulk hardware I.E.: the cut out fender flares will include quality pinch molding ( not that crappy door edge guard junk ) to cover the cut edge of the fender and bedside.

2in over stock is perfect IMO. If your running a 285 with the reccomended Backspacing your gonna be almost flush with 2". It may make the tire look small but at the same time you can run less lift and it'll look more proportionate.

Definitley put me at the top of the list for a 2" cut out flare if that happens. I really like where this is going

Those are +4" width at least and also notice that the bedside wheel opening does not look much larger than OE

2" flares would be perfect for my midtravel taco and the extra clearance I want/need for future 35" tires
