First off let me start off by saying I've used the search bar and google.. So sorry if this is a duplicate thread. But i tried!

So here is my situation. Just bought a 2013 Taco (2 weeks ago). And me, being the penny pincher I am went ahead and threw a 2 in rough country spacer on the front end to make her sit level. Did not touch the rear. Has the 4 leaf pack. ( I know not ideal but no off roading and With the hopes that when I had the extra $ flow this summer id throw on some 5100's etc...) Anyway so as soon as i pulled out of the driveway I noticed a very small , but noticable rubbing-grinding-rotating like vibration (Sucky description , Im sorry) from the front end. Most noticeable around 40-50 MPH . Now my girlfriend and buddy both claim to not really feel it. Thats how small it can be.Just annoying to me.

Now my question is does this 100% sound like front differential bearing? It does seems to be less noticeable in 4WD but not 100% gone i don't think. Any other recommendations ?? Any help is greatly appreciated. And again sorry if if the thread is repetitive haha -Cody

check your drive line angles. Lifts often put the two piece driveshaft at a weird angle and cause vibrations. Though, more often its with larger lifts. I'm not super knowledgable on the subject, but a quick search for driveline vibrations may yield you some answers.

Now would something like a driveline carrier bearing drop be something worth looking at? I was under the impression that those were only used if a lift was added to the back end?

I am feeling something very similar. Just installed 2 inch lift on front and it almost feels like my tire is rubbing on something. Its a very faint and cyclical sound/feeling. I went in for alignment and I still feel it. For me it happens closer to 20MPH, but this might just be the only speed I can hear it. I don't think switching to 4WD makes it go away. Maybe I am just super paranoid about the needle bearing failure. I am going to check all the bolts again with my torque wrench this weekend and see if maybe I forgot to tighten something to spec when installing. Maybe I need to study up on driveline angles and see if something is out of whack. I'm subbed to see if you get any good feedback.

Get a gopro if you have one, or a buddy's and stick it under the truck. That will help you isolate your issue.

Idk much about it personally since I've not dealt with lifts myself. (still stock ride height) But do a quick search and I'm sure you can find someone knowledgeable.

Spacer lifts ride like shit. I just took one off my Tacoma and it’s a different truck with the Fox coilovers.

For sure I am planning on doing a proper suspension lift this summer like i said. But this has nothing to do with the spacers i don't think.

Thanks Shooter78 for bringing up this issue with your truck. I just installed FOX Coil-Over's (2.5) on the front of my 2013 Tacoma Long Bed, along with PROCOMP UCA's. On the rear suspension I added an extra leaf-spring for 1.75" of lift. In addition, I also installed an OME carrier spacer kit because I was getting a slight vibration at about 20mph and between 40-45 mph??? When I engage the four wheel drive the vibration seems to go away...or becomes less noticeable? I'm very happy with everything else about the ride quality, but this vibration is driving me nuts! NOTE: I'm running 20" wheels with Nitto 33X11.50X20 tires.

I took the truck to my local Toyota dealer today and they test drove it with me. The tech thought it might be a drive shaft issue being out of balance, but I'm not buying it. I'm really hoping to get to the bottom of this issue.. could it be a U-Joint??? HELP!

If it goes away in 4WD it's the needle bearing

My "rubbing" has now become more pronounced after 1000 piles post lift. I can also now feel it go away in 4WD. I will be ordering the needle bearing replacement bushing shortly.

OP states that he hasn't touched the rear end so can't have anything to do with drive line angles. What do your CV angles look like

Yes, I had an alignment done...twice, the first time the steering wheel was a little to the left while driving straight down the road, so they re-aligned the truck. They found the toe was off slightly. Truck drives very nice now.
