For the last few weeks I have been researching on this site and others, to help decide which 2" suspension lift to go with. I think I have come a long way from my original thoughts of going with the TRD Pro suspension...

I put a lot of highway miles on my truck, but I also play hard, I travel long distances (faster than most) down washboard roads. I also travel a lot of two track trails. Most of which are in the desert and mountains of the southwest. So far this is what I have concluded will be the best for everything I do.

    Truck: '15 DCSB OR
    Snugtop XV

    Front: Icon Extended C/O 2.0
    Super bumps
    UCA: Icon Tubular

    Rear: Icon remote res 2.0
    Extended break lines
    Super bumps
Leaf: Help!?! Looks like Dakars are the popular vote... I just hear a lot about the stiff ride. I have a shell that weighs 175 lbs. I will probably have an extra 100-150lbs. Of gear at any given time when off-road, I'm guessing that will help some. I'm also wondering about lift height of the spring pack I don't want to go much over 2".

Any suggestions opinions, or anything I am forgetting would help greatly.
Will I need to extend my break lines for a lift that small?

    Edit:
Ok with all the help I have narrowed it down to this

    Front:
    Icon extended travel C/O
    Icon Tube UCAs
    Super Bumps
It sounds like extended break lines for the rear only? If it is risky I would rather do it for the front also, but want to save money if not...

    Rear:
    Icon 2.0 remote res
    Extended break lines
    Super Bumps
    Dakar's (with a leaf removed)

    What do you think??

I am going to wait until November for Icon parts. Hopefully for the Black Friday sale!
There will be pictures as soon as I start. Before, during and after!

    Leaf packs idk.

You won't need to extend your brake lines though, and I think everything else you have figured out! you going 2.5 or 2.0? And reservoir in the front or nah?

This is wrong, you do need extended brake lines if you have any more than 2" of rear lift. Once you flex your going to stretch out the stock ones and eventually break them. Its about $60 and so worth it.. You've spent this much on suspension, don't cheap out.

Leaf packs I love my Dakars, they can be a little squeeky sometimes but not bad. I've heard some like the all pro expos and some hate them.

I am going with 2.0 no front res. why do they jump to rear res first in the stages? And how much would I actually benefit from front res? I can always rebuild and add later.
    Thanks for the response.

You don't need a resi unless your desert running or going fast for long periods of time, just keeps the shock cooler.

Thanks! And yes for 60 I might as well. And will add it to the list.
I'm leaning toward Dakars. Reassuring to keep hearing they are good.

^^^ You would see more benefit going with the 2.5 in the front IMO though

Icon only makes 2.5" up front.. at least to my knowledge.

I'll keep an eye on them and check them after a good trek and go from there then.
    Thank you

If you are looking at carrying loads + a shell, definitely get the rear resis, it will extend the life of your shocks considerably, especially if you do quite a bit of high speeds with weight. I spoke to an Icon rep about it specifically.

Thanks for your thoughts! Sounds like my suspension set up is perfect for what I need. The reassurance helps!
As far as the break lines, I'm not sure what lengths I need. I'll check when I get back to my truck in about a week. I'll PM you. How much longer do they need to be? About the same as the lift difference??
Thanks again for the help! I think joining this forum is the second best decision I've made... Of corse next to buying the Taco!

Sounds like I travel the same types of roads in the same way as you.

I have been very happy with my Dakar leafs. The ride may be stiffer than stock but it is not harsh with a better progressive spring rate. I removed the upper of the two overload leafs to reduce the lift and level out the truck with 2.5 in of lift. I have around 180k miles on the Dakars now and have had no squeaks or other problems and they handle loads very well. My only real complaint is that they give about 2.75+ in of lift with both overloads in place. Huge upgrade over stock.

I am running Icon extended travel c/o in the front with TC UCAs and Icon 2.5 in remote resi shocks in the rear.

Sounds like it. Could I remove another leaf to get down even more? Or would that completely negate having the Dakars?
What part of NM are you from? I spend a lot of time in the desert around Las Cruces, and in the Jemez up north.

Hey OP. I removed the third leaf on my Daks and got exactly what I wanted: +- 2.5" and a more compliant ride. At that height I've had zero vibes.

Thanks Bman, I think that is what I'll do, everyone seems to like them.

I don't think you can remove the bottom overload leaf, just the upper. Many on TO have done this, so you should be able to get some other opinions. I would not remove the third (first actual leaf) but others do this.

    Up in the Jemez.

Just to clarify: I removed the third leaf DOWN from the top, per OZ-T's recommendation. I left in both overloads.

That's one way to do it, he's just saying you can't remove the bottom over load, just the top over load

Alright, if I get Dakar's they start close to 3". If I remove the top over load that will drop it to 2.5-2.625"? I assume my shell will cause it to squat close to .5? Which would put me right at the 2" lift I want? The only reason I don't want more lift, is the amount of highway driving I do for work. I want the benefit of the lift with effecting the mpg as little as possible... And yes I know I might be dreaming a little.
