TacoAlaMode Custom grill, SCS Gunmetal F5's, Treadwright guard dogs, King extended travel coilovers w/800# springs, OME Dakars. LRUCA's. Allpro off-road plate rear bumper with high clearance hitch, steel breaded extended brake lines front and rear, SOS concepts bolt on rock sliders with top plate, Pelfreybuilt front plate bumper, rci skid plates, Airflow Snorkel, Tom Woods custom one piece drivesahft, Weathertech in channel rain guards, Bushwacker fender flares, custom cab height bedrack, 60" Hi-Lift jack w/Mount, Recon 10,500lb waterproof winch with synthetic line, rear bumper light pods, front bumper light pods and light bar.
I may have missed something, but why not install the lift yourself, allowing you to get a better setup within your budget?

I installed 5100's and All-Pro Expedition leafs, and then spindles on my 07 Pre-Runner. Also installed a full OME kit on another members 09 4x4, and installed a full OME kit on my 95 myself. Each one of them done in an afternoon.

Lifts on these trucks (first or second gen), are fairly easy to install, and can easily be done in an afternoon all by yourself.

X2, but maybe not in one afternoon by yourself. I spent around 8-10 hours installing mine by myself during nights after work. Basic hand tools and pretty much no experience with working on suspensions, and alot of referencing TW when i had a question haha

Now see, this was bound to happen.

    You force my hand...

I now have to admit to being someone who pays other to wrench, instead of turning my own in many cases. With my cars, this is usually the case. With my motorcycles, however, I go hands on.

I know I could find local folks and we'd get the work done - no question there...

But...when you pay a garage to do the work, they are responsible for issues that arise thereafter (to a degree). ;) Not like I'm going to hold newly minted friends responsible for a busted coil due to improper torqueing of a nut, etc.

...and given I'm putting off supercharging my Z4 and investing some money in the truck instead, my budget for this project is entirely self imposed and relative. New suspensions should, IMO, cost somewhere under 2 grand - that's what I think and am comfortable with. many would disagree. But hey, if you want to supercharge a BMW, I assure you, the cost of entry is a sh-t-ton more than 2 grand. ;)

So, I'm happy to pay someone to install my suspension in their built-for-the-purpose shop, as saving the $500 by doing the wrenching myself is less of an issue for me. Not that I can't appreciate the coin, mind you, but when I balance my time, the tools I'll need, the help I'll require, the looks my retired neighbors will give me and the obvious fact I *could* break a nail, well, it just doesn't add up for me personally. ;)

I vote ironman. 2 inch lift, don't have to worry about UCA's, comes with new leaf pack...I was considering it for a while myself. Not sure what # spring they use, so might want to look at that since you're getting a bumper.

They rate theirs "A" "B" "C". A being stock B is performance and C is constant load. The kit is about 880.00 depending on options

See, I'm not willing to accept vibration issues due to lifting. I want the lift and NO vibes. I think it can be done, and with a lift this modest, I'm really not willing to settle for vibes to have the lift.

I would personally look into the Ironman 2" lift, OME lift or the Icon Stage 1 lift with Iron man rear leafs.

OP, for what you are wanting to do with your truck, purchase some 5100's and set them at .85 (front) using your stock springs.
it seems like you're itching to spend $$$ on your truck,.. and that's awesome,. but from what you're saying (don't want vibes, limited off road action, etc.), the 5100's will work perfectly.
it also might be worth noting that this choice may save you some install labor. have a shop do the front (if you must), but do rears yourself (it's REALLY easy).

So, are you saying there is no way to avoid vibes in a lifted Tacoma?

With a good set-up you can. We have customers buy the Icon stage 1 all the time that the truck never see's dirt. They buy it for the improved on road ride and handling.

I expect any time I change something from factory, there is a potential downside. I also expect that there is a solution. Yes, it often means spending more money, but the alternative is, in this case, unwanted vibration. Which while annoying, is also damaging.

I've built two Jeeps for offroading, so I understand the process - saying "don't lift it" is a bit of a shortcut, imo.

the problem with these trucks is the drivers side front axle bearing. ANY lift will cause the axle to vibrate inside the bearing (its in the diff) because of the increased axle angle. shortly after I lifted mine I installed the ecgs bushing to effectively solve the problem. some folks (newer, less used trucks) don't encounter this problem right away.

some can live with it, as it only happens between 35 and 45 mph. mine was intermittent at that. no matter what you do, you will encounter this problem

I don't know if this is true, i thought most vibe issues come from changing the angle of the rear driveshaft.

Im not saying that vibes from the front diff are not an issue, just seems like it is more common for people to develop vibes after a lift because of the change in the angles of the driveline for the rear axle. I said i don't know if thats true because you said, no matter what you do, you will encounter this problem. I haven't encountered that problem, however i did develop vibes after lifting the rear.

Nice write up by the way, if i ever notice vibes from the front now i know where to start

thanky. and yea I guess I got lucky with the driveshaft because I here guys complaint about that ALL THE TIME! so sad that these trucks often come off the lot like that with dealer installed lifts, and the dealer pretends that its normal.

how much did you lift the rear to get vibes?

and btw, I think it was you who steered me strait a bit back on which coils I needed. thank you
