OK guys I'm debating adding a set of rear blocks to my 16'. I have it leveled out right now and it's 1" higher In the front. Which I like, but I also tow alot and it sits really low in the rear when it's loaded down. I have some 2" none tapered blocks off a 12' taco laying around and might throw them on to try out the look this weekend. My main concern is them not being tapered and if anyone has ever taken a cutoff wheel and tapered or trimmed down to 1" even if that wouldn't require a tapered edge to avoid vibrations I hear people having with the 2" blocks? Im pretty handy when it comes to fabrication as I'm a welder/fabricator. Also the centering hole on the block goes all the way through to the centering pin on top of the block, idk if it tapers smaller or not the deeper it gets though. Any suggestions or experiences are appreciated.

If the rear is stock and you tow a lot I would install the AAL instead of a block to prevent any axle wrap and leave the over load spring in which will actually increase your payload in the rear and give you a nice 2" lift

I would really like to kind of just try out the look before I went and ordered all that. Just because I already have the blocks. I just don't want to do anything that will mess up the driveability of the truck as I have a twelve hour road trip next weekend. Ideally I want a 1" lift in the rear so if I were to order something that's probably what size I would aim for. When I say tow Alot I mean often not alot of weight. Usually around 1200-2000 lbs but with 35's it's closer to my rear fenders than I would like.

The reason I suggested AAL bc it would benefit the ride and drive ability as where blocks would kind of hinder it. But if you have 35's you definitely need to lift the rear. Just think about it AAL down the road will be 10x better then the block

    • I gotcha Ill have to look into it and see if I can find a 1-1.5" AAL. Maybe I'll just throw the blocks on how they are for a week or so and deal with the vibrations if I get them and order the AAL after the week long "trial" run.

Its always better to install a block with a a taper to help with driveline angles. If you opt to install an add a leaf I would recommend just going with the icon 3 leaf or wheelers version for a better rde versus a single add a leaf.

I'll help you and it comes with longer u bolts and it's what I'm using. It will just be a harsh ride with blocks. You will also need longer ubolts for the blocks and longer shocks. Id recommend some bilsteins in your case

Nice! I've never installed those. I'm going to look into it and probably sell the blocks. I wish I had looked into this a couple days ago before I ordered my 5100's for the front. I probably could have gotten a better deal ordering 4 vs 2.
