I have a 98 2.7 4x4 that cant seem to hold together when it comes to exhaust. I have broken 2 different sets of exhaust manifolds and i just blew a hole in the Pace Setter headers :( . Any suggestions?

just everyday normal highway driving. The 2 manifolds cracked completeley in half ( directley in half betwen the 2 and 3 ports)and the headers got a hole in them.

the head is likely warped, has it overheated at any point? next time you pull the headers off, take a straight edge from the top left corner of number 1 exhaust port to the bottom right corner of number 4 and vice versa and check for an uneven surface. should be perfectly smooth all across the side of the head.

make sure you got all of the old gasket material off and the mounting surfaces are clean. you may have to take the head off and have the exhaust ports resurfaced

warping would most likely just cause a leaky/blown gasket, as far as breaking the manifold apart typically that would be from something like a long or hard drive followed by washing the engine while still hot, and the drastic change in temps cause weak spots then cracks. Normal driving, no reason this should be happening.

Definitely try a quality replacement like DT header. And get a flexpipe welding in the downpipe to allow more flex in the exhaust system.

Yeah I looked further into what happened with my headers.. They are just crappy haha. But whats what i get for only paying 175. For sure going to invest in some better quality parts. Im not sure about the 2 manifolds. Could of been water splashing up and cracking them. I do like to take the tacoma off road quite a bit too.

Going to see id pace setter will refund m money that i spent on the headers. They are under warranty. I looked into the Doug Thorleys and i am liking the ceramic coated headers. Then only to cut the cat off and put some exhaust on it. Gotta love no smog testing out here in the boonies :D
