Holy shit 90° in February? It's hotter there than it is here in Texas.

Several things... You do realize the guy in Mexico who built my truck wasn't alive in 1995 when the guy in Japan built those.

You have one page of a survey. Is this initial quality? 1 year? Long term?

I can't see that part. Plus one survey doesn't prove or disprove anything.

Even Consumer reports new car data can be off. Once any manufacurer gets a tip that an area will be the random purchase point of Consumer Reports... They have all the new versions of that car re-PDIed and double and triple checked.

I know, I wish it would pick a temp and stay there for the winter. I'm sure the roads will look like a woop section of a moto X track this am on the way to work.

Those are NHTSA recorded complaints per 100 vehicles to date for each model year. It may be one "survey", and certainly if you don't take your car in, it won't get recorded, but it is the most thorough and reliable accounting of such problems. It is broken down to specifics if you go to carcomplaints.com or toyotaproblems.com which links to the data.

First year is not the problem, but can introduce "new" problems. In fact, a few years in can be a weak period due to shifted tolerances and machine wear. There really isn't any rule you can go by though according to the data available for several car manufacturers.

To conclude the saga - picked up the truck last night, all is well, new compressor installed - about $2,300 worth of parts and labor if it wasn't under warranty...

I've had my truck for 7 month now, and the AC has started to turn off on its own as well. Can be simply going down the road and off it goes. I have an appointment to take it in this coming Wednesday.
Now starting today the AC even while at max simply cools.

Seem I finally got mine sorted out.
First time in the said they could find no issue, but removed that AC instrument panel and reconnected all the wiring. Say it seemed to make sure but to bring it back if it did it again.
3 days later AC started turning off again..this time while on the low setting.
Took it back in and this time they simply ordered the entire AC control panel and replaced it. So far so good.
Yet, now I'm a bit paranoid to any little thing my AC does, but its working.

At least you didn't need a new compressor!

At least both the compressor and the AC control unit for the other guy were fixed under warranty.

That's the reason for it as sometimes parts do fail, even in a brand new truck.
