The aircraft paint could have been altered and new registration numbers painted on before lunch the day the aircraft went missing

This is the wildest story I've read about this ... I makes me wonder what kind of flying was the captain of MH370 doing on his personal flight simulator ?

That happened before IIRC. There was an airport with old radars that just showed planes on a 2D view. At some point the two planes lined up and the controller thought it just a single plane at 30,000 feet and he thought a plane flying at 20000 could cross the path safely and then the hidden plane crashed into it.

I'm 99% sure it was on Mayday
