I'm with majority. It is in the ocean somewhere and our satellites can't get to the depth it is. Hopefully they find it. If not it will be 100 years and James Camerons great great grandson will discover it and make a movie

Search Theory operates on known facts, and a list of 'want to know facts' that are then further investigated.

What we do know is the Last Known Point, fuel load and range of aircraft, timing of satellite handshake signals (which are automatically routed via satellite when the aircraft is outside of VHF or HF radio range), which satellite was in communications with the aircraft, the satellite's position, and the angle of its antenna array. Each piece of factual data defines the possible search area, generally large circles. Where the factual data all intersects defines the highest Probability of Area.

Note that speculative theories have not entered into the Search Theory and search process here at all, and thankfully so. Wild Ass Guesses (WAG) need the Scientific part to back it up to become SWAG before they are even remotely considered. Again, this is where investigation comes into play, for example researching the behaviour and connections of each passenger and crew member on board, or anyone that came into contact with that specific aircraft in the 48 hrs prior to its departure.

Pretty standard research stuff, not based on ramblings of wanna be pilots or truck drivers on internet forums.
