My 5k service last year, the dealer neglected to rotate my tires (I marked them ahead of time). They ended up coming to pick up the truck, rotating the tires and returning it to my house.

Went in for my 10k 2 weeks ago. Tires were rotated, but just noticed last night 2 of the lug nuts were missing from one of the wheels. I checked the other 4 lugs, they were all hand tight, not torqued down at all!

Luckily, I work from home & don't drive much. I probably put less than 100 miles on the truck since the service. I could have lost a wheel at 60mph with my kids in the car, WTF!

I called the dealer, they had me call roadside assist to have it towed in.

    This is getting ridiculous!

Stay away from IRA Toyota in Danvers, MA. At the very least, double check EVERYTHING they claim to do.

Seems like a standard practice to "forget" to rotate the tires.

Fortunately the OEM Dungflops suck bad enough I didn't really care. Now I do my own service.

Pretty simple rule, never take a vehicle to a dealer for routine service. Good chance you are getting most junior tech in the shop who was up all night drinking and is probably high on the job. They'll eventually fire him, but for now they are using your vehicle to sort the wheat from the chaff in their techs. Anyone that can reliably change your oil without spraying oil all over the engine compartment and rotate tires without having wheels fly off later will quickly be put to work doing revenue generating work rather than free 5k service visits.

Service yourself or go to an independent shop and expect to actually pay useful money for quality service.

Do it yourself if you can, the money you save isn't worth the headache, unless you have a good dealership you trust. I know some people don't have a choice and are stuck relying on the dealer.

I've also have simalar experience from the dealers near me. Since then I do most all of my maintenance myself.

Sounds like a crappy service manager works there. I am confused as to what damage happened from the loose lugs. Why would you have it towed in when you can tighten them yourself? Were they bent now?

You can do all that mainenance yourself ... I never deal with those stupid warranty/mainenance agreements ... they are a waste of time and money (if you pay for one)... I want to be in control of what fluids and parts are being installed on the vehicle, dealership uses whatever is cheapest!

It's a liability issue for the Dealership if he were to drive it in. They could be sued easily if something happened on the way in if he were driving it like that.

I agree with all the posts above. I had never done my own maintenance on my vehicles until I bought my Tacoma. I had a bad experience at my first dealer oil change at 5k and decided it was time to become an amateur mechanic.

Wow! It seems dealer services are hit & miss.
Mine has been super for both my trucks free care.
Most of their techs though have been there for over 20 years.
The owner treats his employees very well.
Does this dealership have a big turn around or does the owner care?
Maybe some customer feedback to him or Toyota Corp will motivate.

Same here. Never had the first issue with mine. Always excellent service and go far beyond to make sure you're happy.

Well, I only had 4 lugs nuts left that could be tightened. I'm not going to knowingly drive a vehicle with 2 lug nuts missing. And I'm not buying 2 new lug nuts out of pocket because they screwed up.

I don't know what damage could have happened, possibly bent lugs, wheel damage? Sure, I could remove the wheel and inspect myself, but I'm going to let them "fix" it first.

Just got a call from the dealer.. They don't believe they're at fault, they think someone tried to steal my wheel. LOL

Wait a minute... you actually thought they do all that work? :notsure: News flash: the 2 years "free" scheduled maintenance is nothing but a sales gimmick.

Other than warranty work you should avoid your dealership. Tech's these days are nothing more that Homer Simpsons and to make it worse these idiot are proud of that characteristic and display it.

Sounds like they are covering for the person who did the work.

Honestly, every Toyota dealership I've been to in Massachusetts (which has been a lot) has been such a shitty experience. I feel our pain. Fuck the dealership!!!!!
