What air filters are you guys running? I bought the K&N Performance one and was wondering if it was worth cleaning and doing all that work to reuse it?

Well at least it looks like it has a metal screen to keep the mice outta the truck.....

Mice got into my 2006 Taco, shredded the filter for nest and then proceeded to eat ALL of the "flap" that gave me "inside" or "outside" air.

I see that as a plus for the k&N.......

They swapped mine at 20k. It's pretty crazy how dirty it was. Granted I change my HVAC filter in my house every 3 months and they're just as dirty

I called my dealer today. They didn’t even have the filter that fits my truck in stock. In fact, they told me they didn’t sell enough of them to warrant stocking them. I guess no one gets their 20k done there.

Man. I read these and I went out to my truck because I got mine 20k service done last month from my dealer. It was out of the Toyota care (by time because I purchased used) but they gave hooked me up. Love my service guy, he fixed me Kazoo wind noise, no questions asked as well... but I digress... well I checked and sure as shit, my filter was replaced and they even dated it.

I cannot stress this enough, in El Paso, TX area go to Fox Toyota. Lol.

Might still go K&N because the F’N desert and want to keep my air filter clean more regularly.

When my 20K expired I got upsold to a prepaid service plan through 45K that actually seemed like a pretty good deal, given that I expected I’d have to make the trek to the dealer for a few TSB’s and recalls anyway (which proved true). Before y’all tell me I should DIY, this Tacoma is the first car I’ve owned in 40 years that’s received dealer service. The final 45K was done last month and the cabin filter section on the checklist was a mess of multiple check marks and cross outs, so I looked at it myself for the first time (I have checked the engine air filter and they have changed it on schedule). It was mildly dirty but not too bad compared to the filters I’ve changed myself on other cars, so it’s definitely been changed by my dealer at least once. They’re not all dishonest, but I’ll probably start doing my own maintenance now. I bought the oil filter wrench ... I’ll be curious how that goes, as the cartridge filter change on my wife’s Mk7 VW Golf is about the easiest filter change I’ve ever done.
