It's going to take at least 2, maybe even 3 stickers to reach the hp you're wanting. Another option would be to bolt on a 8" exhaust tip. That would do it for sure. :bikewheelie::burnrubber:

Great points, a lightweight flywheel as soon as one is available would be a great addition as well. One way to actually increase horsepower a bit would be running methanol injection. It's a bit labor intensive but methanol boasts a much higher oxygen content than atmospheric air which means more power, but also decreases your running temperatures significantly at the same time meaning more reliability for trail riding and stuff and the worst thing that happens is it stops working and you rely on 'only' the Toyota factory cooling system which is extreme overkill in and of itself. Just gotta tune it right so you don't rust your block from the inside out and you're good

people still put stickers and body kits on their cars?

I haven't seen a "ricer" on the road in a few years.

For a while, like maybe 10 years ago, I used to see a lot of kids with beat-up 240sxes, which I assumed were being used for drifting but I am not sure.

Now, If I see a kid in a modified car, which is rare, its usually an early 2001-2009 BMW 3 series or sometype of Audi. Honestly, I don't know what the kids are into, and I don't really care either.

Whats the point of getting 300hp? Just on principal? Just to reach that next third digit? 300hp vs 278hp in a Tacoma would hardly be noticeable. You'd spend thousands on bolt ons and wouldn't even come close in the end. To each their own though. The Orange Virus tune will hopefully be worth getting. It sounds like Toyota is doing a number to ECUs these days to keep things fuel efficient and what not. The more muckin around they do with it the more we stand to gain by someone cleaning it up. By the sounds of it the ECU in the Tacoma is pretty jacked up. We'll see though... OV could be blowing smoke.

if you do go this route make sure you absolutely have a setup with a failsafe built in, because once its tuned to run on water meth its has to all the time and if it doesn't it will lean the motor out and blow it up

Of course, I'll do a write up if I do end up going that route but i would make sure it's to the point of being street able in a safe way. Likely a fail safe that would trigger the ecu to revert to a closer to stock tune if the pressure on the meth injector ever drops below a certain level or something like that would be the goal.

This is not the truck to have if you want power imo. Get a GM fullsize with the 6.2 or any V8. GM has huge aftermarket performance support especially with the new LTX motor lineup coming out. Easily make 7-800 hp with bolt ones and boost.

Are those parts even compatible? I took a look at the selection and I wasn't sure that I could just buy something and install it.

On my 2nd gen.... I gained 16HP (Dynojet tested) by deleting cats & adding URD long Tuber headers. But I also have aftermarket muffler, custom crossover, and had a CAI (which I've since removed).

But my truck is heavy so it didn't make much difference. Cost a fortune though.

Nope. Owned a Jeep, and a hand me down jag. Parents have owned some performance cars that I got to drive every once in a while. Regear is great until you actually have more hp and then you have to do it again. I'm not touching my gears until the rest of the truck is done then I'll regear and put in an LSD and be done with it.

Or they are into cars because they paid attention in school and learned how to invest or run a business so that they can still afford to have fun messing around with cars

Oh and also for the OP, URD just dropped a tuned exhaust for the Tacoma in the last couple weeks. That would be the only way you'll ever get any real hp out of a bolt on, a tuned exhaust works differently than any old metal pipe because it resonates at the exact frequency the engine does, eliminating vibration and smoothing air flow for slightly more power and smoother delivery.

HP stickers...it's the only way. I would start with Veilside and GReddy then move on to this one... Just remember to live your life a 1/4 mile at a time.
