I just moved from my '94 Pick-up (no model names back then) to a 2014 Tacoma 4WD with the V6 engine. I liked the manual transmission in the little truck. Easy to gear down for more power. The Tacoma is called an automatic, but I see all those extra lower-range gears. Are they just for engine breaking?

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to TW! BTW yes you can use those gears for engine braking. Just use the appropriate gears for the appropriate speed ;)
