the damn thing is timeless. Whats awesome is that is also pretty easy to work on. At least the 2.7L is.

Awesome trucks! Here's my 2002. Purchased in spring 2021 and have been making it better since I purchased. Wanted something for my kids to learn on and drive a standard transmission. My first Toyota was a 1990 pickup with the 22RE and I loved it. Should have kept it but went for the "new" Tundra in 2000 when they came out.

I get it my Tacoma has been with my family since it was new 0 miles and it has 264k miles. It was also my first car/truck. Just re-did the head gasket, timing belt for the first time and never had any problems. I’m looking to convert it to a 4x4.

Lovin this thread. Not just because it's about Tacoma's but because it's about keeping a vehicle for so long with so many miles and still enjoying it. People just don't do that anymore. I'm an old guy so this makes my heart warm. I just bought my first Tacoma, a 2020 TRD OR. No doubt, it will be here after I am gone but that's OK. Someone will enjoy it...

Very nice! That was low mileage for a '97 purchased in '20!

May I ask what make/model of rims those are? When I last needed new tires I wanted to go to a D-slot steel rim and couldn't find any that would be a direct bolt-on fit. Were yours bolt-on, or did you need spacers or something else to make them work?

Had my first Tacoma for 7 years. Was stolen last month. It was a 1999 trd 4x4 manual.

just got an 04 trd 4x4 Manual.

both trucks had 3” bilstein lifts and 33s on 15” wheels. The red one was great but this new one is just as solid.

1st Gen is definitely the best Generation of Tacomas. Congrats. I had a 95.5 Tacoma for a few years and loved it.

Are those MT tires loud on the road? How do you like them so far?

yeah they're definitely not quite but I like the rubber texture sound. much louder than the KO2s I use to have.

Attention....My KO'2 tires suck. This is my third set and progressivly have got worse. These after twenty thousand have two of them with big bumps on the cross seam. Noisy thump while driving. From now on Im going on E Bay for the 400 dollar 31/10.5 15 all terrain. I have some on my Jeep that are excellent
