I've only owned it for about a year: other than a new timing belt, new O2 sensor, and a failed clutch replacement; I don't know of anything major that the previous owner did
I haven't done anything major except get the clutch replaced (properly)
I do need to do need to replace the front brakes, including rotors (probably), soon

I promised my fiancé I wouldn't modify this truck... I lied.
    1998 3.4L Automatic - 247k
Bought it at 170k, timing belt and water pump, brake pads, starter, rack bushings, and new tires, thats it for serious stuff. Then a bunch of other stuff that didn't need fixed but a guy has to keep occupied somehow.

235,000 here. 3rd owner, runs great. Routine maintenance always done and have the records to prove it. Replaced the rear-end was the only problem. I am a long time Ex-Toyota mechanic and have always had some sort of Toyota for the past 30 years. They build the best.

274k. I've replaced the starter and alternator this year - both appeared to be OEM. When I bought it last year at 268k, I did all ball joints / tie rod ends and steering rack bushings (rack bushings had play, as did one of the inner tie rod ends).

Just turned 390K on my 1998. It's been in the family since new. Has the original engine, trans and even the original clutch. Only minor repairs up to this point and still running like a top.

hey. Bought the truck at 203K. Had to redo the VCG but no major issues. Also did the plugs and wires too. I have a question though. I'm going to be taking it on a rather long road trip. I'm not sure of its full maintenance past, but what should I look into replacing or cleaning for said road trip? I'd like to do the timing belt and pump and all just for peace of mind(not sure when it was done last). Also, clean all the components I can i.e MAF, IAC, TB all that good stuff. Any suggestions on what should take precedence, and what things to avoid when doing said jobs? Any info is helpful. Thank you Tacoma world. I love my Tacoma

2001 Tacoma 4WD extcab TRD SR5 2.7l 4 banger 227,000 miles with no problems. Replaced 1 set of belts, and tensioner pully on AC (bad bearing) 1 set of front brake pads and 1 front brake rotor. The only problem I have is a sticky throttle cable that I need to fix, I've seen a few other post with the same problem, throttle has a bad spot on the top (accelerator not pressed) and you have to press it pretty hard at times to get it free, otherwise it has been a joy to own and drive for the last 13 years.
