It would have been interesting to just check it out, even if I didn't buy it.

Its just i read the op and he was looking for opinions in relation to his search for a truck. Presumably he bought one in the past 6 years. I didn't bother reading the middle of the thread. If I missed something in the interim then I'll kindly remove my foot from my mouth.

Apparently people have continued driving since then. Weird.

I was only asking because the op clearly no longer needs the info. Just wasn't sure if somebody revived the thread not realizing it was not relevant to op any longer. Weird.

My current Tacoma is 2002 extra cab 4x4 2.7, MT. Lived it's life in CA Has 248,00 & not a single issue! Well, other than miles. Just passed it's smog test with flying colors. Uses no oil between changes & after 3k oil still looks new! I'm waiting for my new 3rd gen to arrive next week. I just hope I can say the same with the new one. Still unreal tho, not even a water pump - amazing! :)

I'm not. I've had a lot of people that want it but I will use this as my run around vehicle. The newer one will be used for longer trips, dirt biking, & camping.

2002 SR5 V6 Access Cab 4x4. Original owner with 238,000 miles on her. All work done at dealership. Only hiccup was a Catalytic converter replacement at 131,000 and #2 & #6 injector cleaning. I use Castrol Synthetic blend. What's amazing is that although I religiously replace the antifreeze/timing belt and water pump at maintenance intervals all the hoses are original!!!!!! No issues! Jeez, I used to replace all the hoses on my 68 El Camino every two years! BTW, this is a GREAT thread and now has me second guessing buying a new 2017 Yota SR5 Access Cab 4x4. Oh yea, just put on a new set of Michelin LTX A/T2's (P265/70R16's). Got 109,000 miles on the last set with 4/32nd tread left. Only issue was rubber cracking on side walls from old age! Amazing.

I had Michelins in my other truck and now this truck, with just great experiences.

I'm just curious, how many years did you get out of your Michelins with 109,000 miles?

Markcal, going back to my records I had 9 years. Bought at Costco out here in the PNW. Rotated every 5-8K.

Tires are one thing that's not worth skimping on IMO, as those four small patches are the only thing keeping you on the road and Michelins longevity is amazing.

Markcal, can't agree with you more on this fact. If I get a new one, 2017 SR5 I'm simply going to go down to COSTCO and get a new set of P265/70R16's mounted to complete the new truck purchase. 109,000 miles and 4/32nd's left! Unbelievable investment!

I bought mine at the BJ'S wholesale club and bought the X® Radial LT2 tires made by Michelin, which was a club exclusive. I get lifetime balance and rotation and were cheaper than buying the M/S tires, but are almost identical.

1997 XtraCab 4x4 LX 5spd with just over 211K. Still rocking the original clutch, only on my 3rd set of tires in 19 years getting roughly 80K miles per set. Original timing belt was killed when the water pump locked up at 133K. Fuel economy started to get consistent around 16mpg and decided to replace the spark plugs, wire and boots for the first time at 188K. Fuel eco jumped back up to 17-19mpg where it has always been since new.

Will be buying new Gen 3 with manual trans truck next spring/summer and keeping this oldie for fun and possibly add lockers, lift, tires and a straight axle to get further off the pavement with it.

I just hit 200K on my 2002 DC TRD. I did have to rebuild my transmission. but runs great still, Im keeping it till it dies, nothing like it out there unless you want to spend 45K on a new truck.

03 dc around 212k runs good but about to change all the belts including the timing belt, plugs, wires and coil packs to keep it that way. Not the nicest looking dc by any means but I like her. IMAG0864.jpg

My 03' 4x4 V6 TRD Off Road has 207,000 miles. It's not my daily driver anymore. I figure if I drive it 5,000 miles a year and it lasts to 300,000 miles I should be able to get another 20 years out of it. I'll just keep buying $3,000 motorcycles every 5 years or so and I'll never have a car payment again.

Sounds like the best possible ownership experience you could ever have.
