I bought mine new in 1999, kept it in the garage every day. Then a few years ago I rear-ended somebody and I've never had an IPhone or smartphone! I was looking at a new restaurant when everybody started at a green light. For some reason, somebody stopped again and it was too late for me to stop in time. It still looks "OK", I might get the dents fixed some day. 207,000 miles and the only things I've had to do is get a new alternator at around 200,000, brake pads of course(real easy job there), one injector stopped up at 200,000+ miles and had a contact in the signal switch wear out, repaired with solder, easy job also. Before 200,000 miles I didn't have to do anything that wasn't routine maintenance, not a thing, synthetic oil all the way. btw I also have an 86 2wdr beater Toyota with 220,000 on it for backup, I like it and think about restoring that little truck. I guess I'll add a Tacoma pic later.

I have a 2002 with 305,000. Original engine. Bought it with 211,000, four years ago. It's my 5th truck. I do regular maintenance, oil change, tune up, etc. I was lucky enough to fall under the recall for a new frame, so most of the under body is new. I've had to replace the clutch a couple of times in the last year because of faulty clutches, but the engine ALWAYS starts. My last taco was a 1990 and it had 453,000 when I sold it! Best trucks ever.

Did you do any special maintenance to the frame for it to be still solid after all these years, like use Fluid Film from day one?

Just hit 250k in my Taco... 2007, I purchased with 000003 miles on the odo. Aside from routine maintenance, 4sets of tires, and a slight scuffle with another vehicle who turned left into her side, I’ve only had to replace the catalytic converter canister... engine running like a top. She’s taken me to all four corners of the Continental US (I live in AZ, in laws in PA, been to Florida, Maine, Olympic Penninsula (WA), and Imperial Beach, CA and many many highways and byways inbetween. While my wife is shopping for her 4th car since we’ve been married, I look forward to what the next 10 years will bring!
