Just hit 252,000, still runs like a CHAMP

 

232600 for mine, running strong!

 

1996 standard cab: bought at 252K, now 269K and going strong. Replaced all front suspension parts, front CVs & axle seals, front & rear brakes, oil pan and valve cover gaskets, belts, hoses, clutch, flywheel, driveshaft universals, parking brake cable, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and dashboard light bulbs. Rehab'd front hubs. Burns no oil. Did some frame rust control and think there's another five years before I need to consider some radical frame surgery.

 

Where do you buy the patches?

 

201,860 and she runs just as good as the day I drove her from the Toyota dealer back in December of '03.

Bought an 04 with 247k for 6k today. Previous owner was pretty meticulous about maintenance and I'm excited to see how far this 1st gen gem will take me.

 

I bought mine at 267k and now she has 325k...you got a good deal!

I got a 2000 with 298k I love my little taco.

 

This is an inspiring thread. There is a good chance my 2004 will be on the road in 2080! I mean, it is an '04 with 63k miles.

How many have hit 300k with the original engine and transmission? I know of a much older Toyota where I work. It's an early '80's pickup with 348k miles last time I talked to the owner. He has not replaced the engine or transmission, but did replace the clutch once. It is rusted all to #&!$ and does smoke a bit on a cold start, but it by the time he is leaving the parking lot there is no visible smoke and the old thing sounds good (unless a rear fender happens to be rattling against the inner fender well.) He commutes around 50 miles a day in it!

 

2.7l with manual. My factory starter crapped out at 289K, first thing ever to fail. I had the local Toyota truck guy swap it out along with the factory alternator, water pump, clutch and driveline. The compression was fine and valves were withn spec, first time the valve cover was off. I change all the fluids every 2 years. 330K now and doing great

 

I am super impressed and thank you for validating my latest buy. 2004 Extended cab 4wd, V6. 163k miles. $9000. I know the only two owners very well, and the truck has been mechanically maintained religiously. Has some interior panel light issues. Easy fix. I'm glad to be a Toyota owner again.
