I was under my truck and pulled on the wire harness on my 2000 Tacoma Prerunner auto trans neutral safety switch plug and it fell apart from being dry-rotted. I got another pigtail from the local junk yard but the wire colors don't match. I can match 5 of the wires but not all 8. Can anyone help me out with a diagram or even a good picture would do if I can see the color/location.

Do the wires not match due to age or did you get the pigtail from another year Tacoma or possibly a 4WD Tacoma (or 4Runner)?

I think that the pig tail came from a 4 runner transmission. It has 9 wires and mine has 8. I've already deleted the 1 wire that I don't need. 3 of the wires came out of the original plug and I don't know which wire to wire them to.

I didnt look to see what the differences are between the CA spec truck and the non CA spec truck... who would have thought there would be a difference.

Just because the wires are the same color does not mean they are the same across vehicles .

Nor are the pin outs the same it only takes one wire .

Any idea what year 4Runner ?

I had both .PDF's open side by side and the only difference I see is in the combination meter section. I've highlighted "*3 : FLOOR A/T" but I can't seem to find in in the diagram.

I want to thank everyone for the info provided. Still isn't fixed. Here's a picture of what I have and the wire colors. If anyone can get a picture I could splice it back.
