Hey guys, I'm in need of some opinions guys. I just sold my 2005 dc lwb 4x4 sport to downsize to a 1st gen. All i can find local is a 2000 ext cab 4x4 v6 manual with 215k miles.

Should i be concerned about the mileage? I don't know if its been rebuilt or anything, its at a local toyota dealership. Truck runs great, interior is ok and it will work for me.

I will use the truck as a daily driver, about 35 miles a day. Finally what would you guys think is fair for the truck....they are asking $5000

I posted some pics of the truck, sorry they are sideways...let me know what you think.

    Thanks guys

Go to get alignment- replace whole front end
Debadged and painted, plasti-dip bumper , Sock monkey decals, tool box, K&N cold air intake, flag holder/fishing pole holder, Satoshi, magnaflow 40 series, spidertrax wheel spacers, map lights, led reverse lights, led dash assembly lights, roof top LED bar
Check frame, ball joints, tie rods, the whole 9 yards, it looks like a pretty straight truck but spend the 20 mins to crawl underneath and look at the frame for rust and where the shock mounts are, if everything was serviced like it was supposed to be then buy it, you shouldn't have a problem if it was taken care of, if they haven't steamed the engine bay clean and underneath yet look for leaks along the head gasket, and steering rack and so on... I'm very skeptical about the dealerships with these old of trucks because they try to hide everything from sight, the price seems a tad low for dealership standards which is making me think there may be a supersize hiding, anyways best of luck to you and hope it works out

Great info, ill make a checklist with those items. Im going to drive it again tomorrow and ill make sure to really look around it. I guess i was also concerned with the miles. I know guys get lots of miles i was just hoping 215k wasn't too much. I need the truck to last atleast 3 or so years. Thanks

TBH that is a bit low for a dealer... a local dealer had a 1999 ext V6 Prerunner with 199k and they listed it for $9k.

But then again, I've seen dealers list 1990 Nissan Pathfinders with 220k for $11k!

Sometimes dealers just want to get an old car gone. Really. When I bought my truck, pretty much the answer to every question I had was "the truck is 14 years old and got a lotta miles." Mine is a 2000 with 117k

The dealer mechanics (and us) might be aware that these trucks have an impressive lifespan, but the salesmen, managers, white collar staff, etc turn their noses up at "old" vehicles with "a lot of miles".

Also...you have to realize that most of the population dumps their vehicles after 2-3 years or 40k miles. Valvoline sells "high mileage oil" for 'cars over 75k'. So when you talk to an average joe and mention 215k miles, they will likely stagger backwards with disbelief that the wheels haven't fallen off and the car hasn't exploded. For example, my uncle is 55 years old and has a 1989 Camry. Every single time I visit him, we end up talking about cars, and his Camry. It currently has 145k on it. Every single time he says "I'm still shocked that lil' To-yota made it past 100k!!!!! Must be a ticking time bomb!"

This^^^ mentality is what the dealership is going to have to fight with 9 people out of 10 to sell that truck. Take advantage of it.

    that's low for this area.

i'd take it to a shop for an inspection first, they'll give you an idea of what will need to be replaced and how much more money you will need to put in it

if that truck would have been around a year ago i would have def checked it out

Thanks for all the replays guys. I ended up buying it a $4500, everything seems just fine. It rides really bad with those tires and the lift but hopefully that will all stop once i tear it off! Again thanks and happy to be a debt free 1st gen owner.
