    hey guys
My cousin just picked up a 2000 v6 trd extra cab 4x4. sweet truck.
He wants to ditch the factory head unit and install a double din w/nav. (he is stationed in Yuma and travels alot to visit family/woman/and so on)

I have a question for the 1st gen gurus.
Does he need a double din dash install kit? The only ones i can find online are single dins. or does he use the brackets off the stock radio- his new head unit?
any input would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance guys

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I think it's going to have to be a custom type install. The don't make a double din kit for the first gens (that I have seen - could be wrong).

Unless he's rolling in cash the only way he is going to get a screen is with the motorized single-din units.

No need for a kit. Stock brackets should hold it in. The only issue is that at the height it would be difficult to see with no tilt, hence why the majority use the flip style screen.

I have to agree with the guys above.
Double Din will fit no problem, but the angle from the drivers seat may casue some issues.
IMO- go with a single Din, that can be angled, and get the storage pocket.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
Sig has pictures of my Eclipse AVN-726E. Before I had a flip out 7" Alpine and was content on not getting a double din cause it sat to low...after I got the Eclipse installed...all my fears was gone. The screen tilts up and its not as low as everyone may think. No need for a dash kit...in fact I had to trim/grind some of the stock opening to clear it when loading a CD. Brackets from the stock deck should work.
