I bought a 2000 2.7L xtra cab tacoma last spring. 4x4, with 5 spd manual tranny.

It was a little bit of a fixer-uper, and the last real thing I need to do is figure out this damn precat (bank 1 sensor 1 OBDII code) oxygen sensor. Old one was bad so I bought a new o2 sensor from NAPA - part number 234-4162. Went to plug it in and the male/female connectors do not fit together. I have a pic of my truck's female connector I will upload. With a little shaving, I made the connectors fit.

This turned off my CEL, so I passed my NC inspection. However, which the check engine light disappears, whenever I have the o2 sensor plugged in the truck bucks under load. As if you were rapidly going on and off the gas pedal. It also idles a little weird. I unplug the o2 sensor and truck drives normally.

I've been trying to find an o2 sensor that fits my female connector to no avail. I went to Toyota today and they said it's not an o2 sensor it's an "air/fuel ratio sensor" and maybe that's the issue. Before I drop $250 from toyota I want to KNOW it will work. Putting the part number they gave me for it in: 89467-35040 I found one on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/8946735040-2349002-Toyota-Sensor-Tacoma/dp/B005GY9JPM. This still does not look like it will fit into my female connector. Arggh...

I attached a picture of my female connector

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Check Rockauto. They carry the OEM Denso sensor. It will be listed under emission and they will call it an oxygen sensor. A lot of us have gotten the Densos and they work well. Also, go to the vendor section and get the Rockauto discount code to save a few bucks.
