Just purchased my first pre-owned 2000 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 Crew cab. It currently has 280K mileage and looking to do tune up this weekend. What are the recommendations I should look at and or change out besides what is listed below.

    Oil change
    Oil filter
    Air filter
    Spark plugs
    Spark cables

Lower Ball Joints - Unless the truck came with accurate records indicating they have been changed with OEM Genuine Toyota LBJs, change them out.

Clean battery terminals and ground straps (one near the battery, one on the intake manifold, and the last primary one on the firewall near the passenger side)

Clean MAF with MAF safe cleaner

Grease zerk fittings on the drive shafts

Eventually, front and rear diffs, transmission, and transfer case oil

might want to check out the radiator and hoses plus antifreeze. Vacuum hoses. Check the brake fluid, and give the brakes a good looking over. When was the last time the water pump and timing belt was changed. You can find a good kit on ebay from a TW member cabinairman. I hoped I spelled that correct. like post #2 stated, lower ball joints are a priority on these 1st gen trucks. If you don't have a history on when they were last changed, replace them pronto with Genuine Toyota parts only. Good luck

Something that might get overlooked is the oil cooler. Mine was all gunky and clogged up. I ended up doing the oil cooler delete.
