You are aware that Toyota had a frame replacement for the year of truck you have?

Become a member of Toyota owners care and punch in the VIN of the truck. You do not need to own the vehicle to do this. Once you enter the VIN data, all service done by the dealer on that truck will be listed.

    Very valuable tool.

We would hate to see you had bought a truck that was previously eligible for a frame replacement, but the previous owner did not follow thru with proper recall inspections. Oddly enough, this exact scenario occurs quite often.

The rusted thru frame is my biggest worry. Ive dealt with 2 different trucks that had this problem.

You could replace the valve cover gaskets if theres evidence of leakage and adjust valves while youre in there.

    Check your PVC valve.

Id probably replace spark plug wires and fuel filter if theyre original.

    Check steering rack for leakage.

Check upper and lower ball joints.

    Replace ALL fluids.

The first thing I needed to replace on my Tacoma of that vintage was the Cats and exhaust system

Funny how the MIL did not light on my Short Road trip but came on before I made it home!!
