I would check the sticker on the drivers door to determine the payload. I would be very surprised if your payload is 1650 lbs. My DCSB 4x4 is 1050 lbs. A Tundra's payload is around 1450 lbs.

The 'right mods' include a floating axle, no you can't (or shouldn't). Just because you throw air bags on the truck to make it look like it's not sagging, doesn't mean it's doing any less damage to the truck and there's still the huge potential of blowing an axle seal since they aren't meant for that kind of weight.

Brakes would be the least of my concerns, they'll handle 2,000 lbs without any issue. Even if you rent a small trailer and tow the 2,000 lb load, a lot of small trailers do not have brakes and the truck deals with it perfectly well.

I agree with your conclusion though, get it delivered even though you seem to be the undisputed king on TW for overloading your Tacoma :D

I have done it. I noticed the first time my rear tires bulged a little. After that I made sure to put more air in the rear tires before I carried a real heavy load. I also had the TSB.

I just broke my driver side 4-leaf pack hauling a load of fire wood that was just to the top of the box. My old 98 Taco had a better suspension in my opinion. Maybe a bad leaf or just bad luck....

Never heard of a dollar pound. They must be lighter than a regular pound.

You are way beyond pushing the limits of your truck.
In your truck you probably have just over 1k lbs. Capacity (mine is 1205).
I had a 4wheeler (650lbs.) in my bed & the bumpstops were hitting the frame going slowly. I do not have the rear modified yet. It became obvious to me very quickly, that they could not handle a 1/4 ton in stock form. So do the tsb with a aal, & now u need to worry about axles, axle seals, shocks, etc. I would not worry about braking as long as u leave xtra room to stop. I also would not worry about the bed itself, as long as the equipment operator does not dump the load too quickly. Bottom line most of us use our trucks as trucks, & most of us may overload from time to time. Learn a lesson or Break it, fix it.

Here is my rig with 1100# of river rock (22 50# bags). I just installed helper springs and was quite pleased with the way they handled the load. I would not load any more than this though.

Guess you guys have not seen a snapped off semi floating axle they brake right at the flange and you lose the brake drum too. Pretty common on old Toyota motor homes kinda like putting 2000# in the bed.
