Hello All! I'm new here and I'm a 1st gen Tacoma lover and happy to be a part of the community.

My Truck: 2004 prerunner xtraCab, 6ft bed, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

I'm on the hunt for a good condition, OEM, over the rail drop in bed liner. I've found a couple but one sold before I could get it; the other is just not in the best condition. I'm looking for one without any tears or roughly cut holes and/or too many extra holes in it, and I want one that has Toyota/logo on it. I'll wait as long as it takes, so just keeping an eye on marketplace/craigslist.
    (not interested in spray-in)

Does anyone know of a place that might still sell them? (i know big ask for something this old) Or will a 2nd gen one fit my 2004? I found a thread on this site giving a part number (00271-35003) just wondering if anyone has had luck with this part number; most places dont have for sale but I found a few that says they have in stock, assuming shipping is even an option, which will likely cost quite a bit, if will even ship.

Or any other ideas/leads on locating a good one?

If no other options, I will just be patient; was surprised I found two within such a short amount of time. Though it seems many people just chuck em when they upgrade.

    Thanks for any input!
    Cheers!

    Welcome to TW! :hattip::wave:

2nd Gen Tacomas have a composite bed rather than a metal one, which negates the need for a bedliner, so there is not really such a thing as a 2nd Gen bedliner; I can tell you that a BesTop expandable bed cover will fit 2nd Gens, 3rd Gens, and Ford Rangers but I don't know if it will fit a 1st Gen Taco...

I did not know this about 2nd gen, so good to be informed as I continue my hunt. Thanks for the warm welcome and the info!

If you could swing by and grab the one sitting in my back yard, that'd be great. I need to clear a spot for more useless junk that will never get used.

Your truck is a 6-lug, so wheels from both the 6-lug 2nd Gen and all 3rd Gens will fit it! I would honestly not be shocked if the soft topper that fits both the 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen fits the 1st Gen...

    Welcome to the forum!

For an OEM drop in liner, it's going to be next to impossible to still find them with an online supplier. I'd keep an eye on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and of course here in the TacomaWorld first gen parts forum as well as your regional.

Consider editing and adding your location to you're original post. You might luck out and someone local to you may see it reach out.

If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area/Northern California - you can have mine for free. It's an OEM over the rail liner. No issues with it except you will need to find the tailgate portion.

    Good luck with your search.

Actually.. I have been wanting to visit some friends in the Bay Area, might be worth the road trip if it is the right one! Assuming I don't find one a bit closer. :D
I did find a supplier online that has the part number I listed above but I'm not certain of the fit - and confirm it is actually in stock. Also need the one that has the flat spots for the tailgate extender to rest in when you want to be able to close the tailgate. So I'm on the hunt for something quite specific. Otherwise, yah, I'm just keeping an eye on all the places. And I'll add my location on the post. Good idea! Thanks for the response.

hahaha! If you were close to British Columbia, I might consider it! Seems quite a few people just have them sitting around so maybe I'll get lucky and find what I'm after, eventually.

Can't do it today but I'll see if I can snap a few pics and PM them to you. When I took possession of my tacoma from the dealership in 2002, I asked them to add the bedliner. They had them in stock so the parts/service department added it. It does have the flat spots for the extender. In fact, I have an extender and the hardware for it. The extender that came with my truck I parted with ages ago but this one is off a nissan and fits perfectly. Exact same as the one toyota offered, just a gunmetal grey finish.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along

Why the drop in bed liner ??

I liked the option of having the spray on type when damaged repairs were quick.

My Truck was loaded often from the rear by first day fork lift operators in a few weeks the bed liner was pretty much trashed to the point in the rain the water pretty much never dried between storms . After repairing the new holes spray on liners worked for me .

A touch up ever month or so.

oh, I like that gun metal finish on the extender, that is nice! Tho it looks like your bedliner is from a crewcab? so it is the shorter box, if this picture isn't deceiving me? Unless this is a picture of a diff one? Mine is the xtraCab.

I used to have a 2001, sold it nearly 8 years ago and have never gotten over getting rid of it. Was on the hunt for ages for a good condition Tacoma of the same body style and package (prerunner, V6). Found this 2004 beauty I have now, with barely over 100k original miles, one owner, meticulously cared for, Score! I just want the right bedliner like my old one had, its a tugging at my heart strings kinda thing. I actually found one, it's just in terrible condition, so I'm really hoping I can find a good one with less random holes and tears. I might start posting some wanted ads and see what kinda responses I get! I don't use it for work or anything, mainly for camping and maybe hauling gardening supplies/home repairs supplies. It's just for looks and I want that Toyota logo on it! I'll keep it clean underneath and keep up on the maint, so I'm not too worried about it.
