2001-2004 Buy Back

Has anyone heard of any 2001-2004 Tacomas getting bought back?
I had my 2003 undercoated by the dealer in April 2012 and was to told the warranty on the frame would be extended 15 years past the date of manufacture.(is that right?)

Today, I was inspecting the frame and noticed some rusty discoloration seeping through the undercoating. looks like it might have a crack just above the axle area.
But I tried not to look too closely...

Anyways, I'm not so convinced that frame replacements(shaking up an old truck..100k miles) are great, so if the buyback is supposed to come back soon...I might be able to hold out for that. I've noticed that the second generation tacomas are getting frame replacements, my dealer's back lot is loaded with new frames.
I'm wondering if they stopped making extended cab frames for my 2003 yet...

I bought the 2003 with the money I got from the dealer buyback of my 1998.

 

Im in the same boat same year too. I am also wondering this. Ive poked around my frame and found no perforations but alot of rust in a lot of different places. They've sprayed my frame twice with that crap and it just flakes off after time.

 

get it inspected at dealer if you think you see holes or cracks or just if you think the rust is excessive. remember, the rust breaks through from the inside out

 

This is what worries me too, can rust under the undercoating. Lots of salt used in ohio. I have no rust on body but can see rust on top of undercoating.

 

I haven't heard of any buybacks for 01-04, just frame replacements.

I would deal with it sooner than later as later means you'll have two pieces of a truck to try and sell instead of a complete one.

 

my 2000 toyota was bought off my and i got a 2001 taco. but on the carfax my 01 had a frame and engine replacement.

 

How do you know if your frame was replaced? Were all the frames recalled for Gen 1 tacos?
