bringing my 04 in for the crt. I've had the frame inspected for the last three years and it passed. up until this year the toyota dealer wouldnt treat the frames due to what they said were "ny state regulations" (epa?) anyhoo they must of worked out that kink withe state because this year I received the letter for the CRT so I'm dropping the truck off in the am for what they told me is about 4 days to ensure a solid cure. anyone know what they treat the frames with? possibly some 2 part slow cure?

My understanding is a form of spray.

Did the frame fail? Meaning a hole was punched through the frame. Even a small hole will fail the frame.
Truck on a hoist and hit with a hammer at many places.

If a hole is punched, you get a new frame. Not a spray.

I'm assuming the frame passed. If it passes they coat it in the states that undercoat them. I wish Iowa was one of those states.

it passed all 3 years, i get it done around november every year and now this year im getting it sprayed as being honored by the crt program. most other states i believe if the truck passed the frame was then treated, but that treatment wasnt being honored in ny state until this year. any ny first gen owners have had the treatment done? any first gens that have had it done in any state for that matter what are your thoughts on it? how has it held up so far since the crt was applied to the frame?

My frame failed Jan. 2001. 99,000 miles on truck.
Frame was replaced with all the stuff that comes with the replacement.
Mechanic said the bill they sent to Toyota was almost $12,000.
    Free to me.

I did replace the shocks (free labor) and clutch. (It was on the ground and easy to work on.)

Had the truck/frame Ziebarted after work was done. I'm good for many tears to come.

Some lift, some armor, some scratches..
my truck was sprayed about 12 months ago here in NJ and IMO it has held up very well. I was at first upset about how messy the spray was (it felt like wet tar for about 2 months and was a bitch to clean off of hands/tools) But the techs did a great job at thoroughly covering the frame and not over-spraying. By now the spray has solidified pretty well, though still soft and flexible. The frame has seen deep snow, mud and puddles, scraped on rocks/dirt but is still doing its job!

I just called my local dealership and they said this program has been discontinued for a long while. The service manager told me that they could no longer get "the stuff" to do the treatment (I was willing to pay them to do it since I'm short on time and don't have a place to do it right now).

I was kinda surprised they weren't willing to do it even if I paid for it myself...

the eastwood company makes a spray that you can use for the inside of your frame. it cames in spray cans & each can has a flexable hose & the end sprays in all directions unlike a normal spray can.
you insert the hose into every hole in the frame, this should give you good coverage.

Great. Thanks for the information. I was going to use some POR-15 when I get the time, but I wasn't sure how I was going to get the inside of the frame...
