Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but here goes.

Have a 2001 Taco, 2.4ltr engine. 350K on the clock. Substantial body damage. Was drivable until this past Tuesday when the Tranny went. Currently at the shop.

Not really willing to put the 2K I was quoted into it for installing a used Tranny-when it was towed in, I mentally told myself that $1200 was about all I was willing to put into it. I use this truck for work, and the company was already making noise about it not presenting a professional image, given the body damage and the condition of the paint. So even if I ponied up the 2K, not sure how much longer I could use it at work.

Probably going to sell it, but unsure as to what a reasonable, fair price would be, under the circumstances.

Give me some brutally candid feedback of what you'd think it'd bring to sell it in the next 30 days or so. Please don't anyone try to tell me "it's worth what someone will pay for it". That's always irked me, like telling someone that water is wet-totally pointless.

    TIA.

Where you live also plays a big piece in it's worth.

However if the body damage and blown tranny are as bad as you say, it's probably only worth a couple grand. And may be only scrap unless you live in an area with a lot of enthusiasts.

    2wd or 4wd?

    How’s the frame? Rusted?

    How about some pictures?

You’ve given very little relevant info to value it as-is but don’t want a vague answer.

2.4 is 2wd, I believe. Try for $1200. Good starting point.

Yup. 2wd, body damaged, 20+YO automatic (?) with a busted tranny is more of a hindrance than an asset. Might be time to let it die.

It's probably still worth at least a grand, or it would be here in CO. The market is nuts for Tacomas even if they're destroyed

I sold a rolled 2wd 2nd gen Toyota pickup base model with like275k mi for $1000 and that was a couple years ago before the market went crazy

Start high and adjust, I guess. In my experience, January is a crap time to sell as people are broke from Christmas. That being said, list it before a recession really settles in. I'm noticing used car prices settling down in my area, could be different in different places. Fwiw, 2nd gen has a lot of parts shareable between 2 and 4wd engine and tranny wise, so more value.

I can only go by What I would pay.

There is nothing on that truck I would want or could use.

    Without Pictures who knows!

Yeah you're gonna have to take two $1000 trucks and try to make a new baby....

If you can do the work yourself.....its probably worth it......the reward of accomplishment if nothing else......

If you have to pay someone to do all this and make dozens of money decisions allow the way.....probably not worth it...
maybe a 1 in 2 chance of success......

Also depends on tranny.....the 340e 's are readily available in all stages.....from junk ...to completely rebuilt with a warranty......

ON the bottom right of your vin plate it lists your tranny# and rear end ratio.....

If you can find a guy wanting to do a 2rz swap in a 22re truck it would be worth $800. They are going to use the w56 trans behind the 2rz anyways. And they would want the whole truck so they can strip the harness.

If I was swapping a 2RZ I sure would not want a 350,000 mile engine.
