2001 Prerunner convert 4x4

Will 1995 tranny tranfer and front diff work on 2001 prerunner to convert to 4x4???

 

The 1995 speed sensor was cable driven while the 2001 is electronic so you'll have to convert it somehow.

The bellhousings on the different engines will be different so you'll have to switch bellhousings or find a truck with the same engine.

Are you using ADD or Manual Hub J-Shift?

Auto hubs are a little harder to get to work since you have to implement vacuum lines and implementing VSV's and or electrical depending on what kind of ADD actuator you get. They were either vacuum or electronically actuated.

So you wanted the push button 4WD and not j shift?

Yes but it's a lot of work. You need a hydraulic press and the whole hub/spindle assembly from the manual hub knuckles. It's easier to just swap over the whole knuckle - people with ABS usually press the spindle out. If you don't have ABS there is no point at all.

So you'll need to figure out the vacuum system then - with manual hubs people lock the actuator in 4WD with a hose clamp.
