Those are fairly pricey. I did take that IAC off and clean it really well but you think that is the issue I’m having for sure?

I have the same issue. I cleaned my iac and it didn't fix my issue. My idle is erratic though and sometimes jumps around.

Iacs can be bought on eBay for 50 to 140 depending on if you have an automatic or manual. Manual is more expensive. I plan to order one soon for my manual.

Bought a brand new one; installed it and still idols at 2,000 rpm. Smooth as you could want just idols from 2-3,000 rpm. Next?

The butterfly valve in the throttle body.

So it's getting up to temperature? Mine idled high due to a bad thermostat. But my temp gauge showed it wasnt warming up.

Have you cleaned your MAF? It might be dirty, although it usually throws a code. Stupid question, does the CEL light work when you turn the key on and then go off after starting?

Yes gets up to temperature...cold engine or after running for 15/20 mins same thing. 2-3,000rpm. Mass air flow has been cleaned. There is no check engine light on. It comes on and goes off when key is turned. Could it be a simple thermostat???

    Alright. So couple things.

Throttle position sensor is tricky, however, if you hook up an OBD2 Scan tool (a decent one) you will be able to see what % the throttle is sitting at. At idle it should be between 11% and 14%, Ive had to drop mine down from 14 to 11 after I took my old one off and put a new one on was scratching my head as to why my old one was reading 14% and idling fine yet my new one I had to drop to 11% to slow the idle.

Regardless, see what your TPS is showing on a tool before you start taking stuff apart.

Could be a vacuum leak as well. Check you vacuum lines to the Throttle Stop (the little cylinder on the throttle body) as it may be leaving the throttle slightly open?

Reason I said ? is because Just throwing out ideas you can look at without spending a bunch of money.

    Step 1: Diagnose/Test/Clean
Step 2: Buy parts AFTER you get a diagnosis.

So my 2001 3rz manual is doing the same thing. Tried changing the throttle body gasket, cleaned maf, iac, checked for vacuum leaks checked the idle stop but to no avail. It's driving me nuts as it was running fine then one day it just started this. It's just a plow truck so I don't want to dump huge amounts of coin in it

The ECT sensor that sits on the back of the head next to the firewall can take over idle as well.

Tried unplugging that and it didn't change. No code for it either.
