    Still fully OEM
My 2001 Tacoma is ready for a new engine. The head gasket is going. It is currently sealed to buy some time. Truck has 480000 on the original engine.

Mechanics tell me it is too high of mileage to risk doing a head gasket. The lower end may not handle it.

    2.4 with AT.

Can't find a new or crate engine.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

They made a ton of 2.4 engine. It seems odd that it is this harsh to find one.
