My Tacoma is filthy! Toyota has really let me down that a vehicle for which I spent good money cannot stay clean! The Nissans on the lot look really shiny, perhaps I will go buy one of them!

future plan of 2" drop and any type of rim thats not a steelie. grille and BHLM mods, maybe....
that isnt bad at all. im in NJ and my Isuzus will crumble in my hand. Thats just the paint/powdercoating peeling off. A wire brush and some POR15 will stop any further rusting. The toyota recall was for trucks that when hit with a 16 oz hammer, would create large holes and flaking rotting chunks to fall. SOME dealerships took in any 95.5-01s for rust and got the people nice refunds. Also remember they also talked them inot new vehicles as well. Toyota also swapped in a new frame on a suppliers truck. he does AC systems for my brothers body shop, 225k miles and they (toyota) put a new frame under his truck. new leafs, front suspension, brake lines too....total cost to Toyota, under 7000.00.....so it can go many different ways. I cant touch a Tacoma 2nd gen up here for anything less then 2000 under NEW. I was looking at a 2008 Taco AC 5sd SR5 for 19,000.00 (certified toyota) with 14 on the odo, but i got my 2010 for 20,500.....and i got the back up camera,Traction control and oh yeah a NEW truck!!! so dont say these trucks dont hold their value. Even the 95.5-04 are holding up here, 170k miles and still wanting 8k!!!! for an access cab....im happy with mine, and i will be watching the frame for rust and if any starts to take care of it immediately.

The "grease" you see underneath is called RUSTSTOP oil treatment. I had it done every other year and if you actually READ the posts, you would have known that.

The frame rusted DESPITE the MULTIPLE Rust Stop oil treatments and the FACT that the vehicle has less than 60,000 miles on it and was GARAGE KEPT and washed often. Of course, you knew that since you read the posts.

My only regret is that I paid hundreds of dollars over the years to TAKE CARE of my Tacoma by having it undercoated and it still rotted away. Had I left it alone, the thing would be perforated by now. this forum SUCKS. Nothing but a bunch of robots praising a rotten lemon.

Toyota is incapabale of making a truck that resists rust. I'll be waiting for the recall just like the Tundra's. I used to love toyota and have owned them for 20 plus years. After this truck, I'll never buy one again.

EDIT: Those photos are from last Summer.

Once AGAIN: The vehicle is not driven often in winter, garage kept, undecoated multiple times and washed every single week. The truck is an '01 and I am the only owner. It has LESS THAN 60,000 miles on it. People I know who have trucks by chevy, ford, nissan, etc drive them year round with 100,000 miles on them have frames that look better than mine. Toyota makes a rotten product and they are incapable of producing vehicles that DO NOT RUST! FACT! Note to forum idiots:

See Tundra recall and Tacoma 95-00 recall plus all the mutiple complaints about 01-04 Tacoma's with the same frame ROT issues. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH.

I saw one of your pictures with a rust-through. (Hole.)
I know what I'd do but it seems you want to gripe about "bad Toyotas" so I won't pass on the info as what to do.

Just dropped of my 03 at the dealership today.. they knocked with a hammer and deemed it to only need the rust proofing spray. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.

Questions: Do they only examine the two main length-wise sections? Are all cross members ignored? Because when I watched the guy do the hammer test, he only knocked the main sections..

Ahhhhhh... I love having a PERFECTLY RUST FREE frame on my 2001 WITH 158000 miles on it. jk
Dude, you seriously need to CALM DOWN WITH THE CAPS LOCK and just look on the bright side. When your frame does fail (it is nowhere close to doing so at the moment) you will get a new free one, simple as that.

Your truck really isnt bad, calm the hell down, and quit complaing, i think most of your 43 posts are probably complaints.

And if this forum suck so much, go ahead and leave, dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

There are plenty of people who are happy about their trucks.
