My 01 originated in New Hampshire and is now in MA, and had REALLY bad rust. Called Toyota and POLITELY asked about the frame replaced, they inspected it, replaced it, and it's running great with a new frame and 150,000 miles on it now. I pay it off this October, and will keep it till it dies. When that happens, I'll get another Toyota. I think a lot of people want to jump on the "bash Toyota" bandwagon.

Yeah, I gotta say I had a tear in my eye when I was told my truck wasn't safe to drive. I didn't want to loose my baby. Then they said they would give me a loaner car until I had the check in my hands. Since I had a pickup, that's what they rented for me to have. I'll get 150% of KBB (mint condition) value. WOW, I was VERY impressed. Hell, I only owned the truck for 6 months, and I'm the 3rd owner. Hats off to Toyota for GREAT customer service and really standing behind their product. I can't wait to get another Tacoma. I put about 9k miles on it in 6 months, and will make about $4,000.00 profit. You can't beat that with a stick. You'd have to be an idiot not to love Toyota.

    Toyota ROCKS....!!!....:D

When are you going to learn that toyotas are shit vehicles? I mean their frames fall apart, their gas pedals stick and result in death.

i dont know why anyone would every buy a toyota. I musta been drunk when I got mine.

So you musta been drunk 3,398 times since then. Look at your post count. Sell you f_ckin truck and go away then. Your a little kid. I've been driving for 30+ years and owned almost everything. All the American made trucks I owned were big POS's period! Toyota and Honda are one of the best car makers out there. I wouldn't be surprised if the faulty frames are made in America...lol. They're giving me $12,000 for a truck that's worth less than $8,000 I paid $6,500 for it. Show me a company that would do what Toyota is doing....NONE..!! PLUS, a $60.00 per day rental truck for free for a month.

End result is, you can't argue with stupid, so that's all I'll say.

    Haha all good man.

And yeah, the frames were built in the US by Dana Corp (think the axles)

Apparently they didn't put enough undercoating or whatever on them, and Toyota didn't catch it.

We will not have that blasphemy here, sir. I have a 2001 and have zero..again that is 0, rust anywhere on the body. Also note that I live in one of the most humid states in the union, Florida. So my truck withstands salt and sand from the beach, copious amounts of rain and glorious mud without issue. I think you've been jilted by a bad truck, not a bad model or bad company. As far as resale value, don't be foolish because the resale value of everything from autos to shoes has dropped significantly due to our phenomenal economic standpoint. It's totally understandable if you want to vent and get info to fix your issue, but don't waste your time and our's by whining with no intent to correct the issue.

So they sprayed nasty tar all over the frame? It's gonna get messy whenever you work underneath the truck!
