Hi everyone. Im hoping someone can help me figure out whets going on, tgos OS my first Toyota Ive always had Silverado. I bought this 2001 xcab trd 4x4 last month, my first trip out the trans goes out. So i ordered a brand new clutch, flywheel, and a salvage transmission with 112K miles and a 1 yr warranty. I put it all together but for some reason the transmission is stuck in reverse while the stick shift feels like its in neutral. I can drive in teverset, the transfer case engages 4 wheel drive but still doesn't release the gears. Any thoughts? Swifter forks maybe, or possibly caused by a front end collision made the truck pop into to reverse while it was in 5to gear and jammed up the reverse light sensor or forks?

Just sounds like your trans is out and stuck in gear. In this case reverse.

BTW welcome to tacoma world. I hope you can get it resolved and maybe someone else can shed some more light on the issue. You did good buying a 1st gen (best gen) tacoma. Hopefully it will be pretty trouble free once your Trans is fixed.

If anyone previously took the shifter out-it might not be put back in correct. I've done it before. Had it duck in a few different gears while it felt like it was in neutral. Hope this helps
