I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma that I recently put a new battery in. I parked it after checking my trial cams and now it won’t start. When turning the key all the lights as they should but nothing happens not even the starter clicking. I’ve changed batteries again to be sure I’ve changed terminals, fuses relays and now I’ve even changed the starter. Please help!!

    Are you a Manual Transmission?
If so try the clutch over ride button.
It may be a bad clutch safety switch?

I’ve tried the clutch start cancel and nothing chances. And where is the 120 amp fuse located? Thanks for the feedback.

I just check the 120 amp fuse and it’s not blown.

I’ve checked grounds on the battery and the starter.

If it's an automatic, double check there no loose connection with the safety neutral switch and make sure the retaining bolt is tight. If it's placed out of position, it will prevent you from starting the vehicle.

    Second, check your ignition switch/tumbler.

does the fuel pump prime? with old school hondas it would be recommended to check your main relay. I don't know if Tacoma's have a similar thing.

No the fuel pump does not prime. I’ve went through the fuse box and checked all of the fuses and relays as well.

Check positive cable at the starter. Sounds stupid but...

Gotta check all fuses are getting power, not just they aren't blown.

I never pull a single fuse when I'm checking. I use a test light and probe both sides of every fuse, and I pull the covers off the large fuses to test for power.

I’ll check the fuses with a test light and I’ve took the starter off and put a new one on.

The problem with fuses is that they don’t always have power to them.
In this case the 7.5A STA it will not have power to it until it’s in the Run/Crank position.

    Keep us updated:fingerscrossed:

I’m having the same issue, 98 v6 manual trans. Turn the key the dash lights up, I can hear a humming sound that I think is the fuel pump, but won’t turn over and no click. Sometimes it starts and the engine turns over at normal speeds, but sometimes not. New starter, new generator, new starter relay switch, clean battery posts and cables, tightened the ground cable.
1 yr old interstate battery, tested over 12v with engine off.
Not sure what the issue is. Bump starts fine rolling downhill.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I'd check your clutch pedal sensor. maybe the truck isn't seeing if the clutch is depressed or not? I dont know if these trucks have to have the clutch depressed or not but the terminals could maybe have some corrosion in them

I'd have your battery checked. I have seen batteries less than a year old die. Have Autozone or O'Reilly's do check. It may be bad. A fully charged battery should show about 13.4 volts or better.

I saw a YouTube video explaining how to test batteries so I followed that and it tested good. Also took it to the place I bought it, they tested it too with the same results. The guy in the shop showed me the main cable on the negative battery post was loose (embarrassing). Last week I cleaned up the cables, maybe it came loose... back at home I tightened it again. So far so good.
Thank you for all the suggestions.
No alarm and if the problem continues, I’ll check the ignition and whatever switch is at the clutch pedal and clutch bypass switch. I’ll post the results and if not, all is good.
