2001 Tacoma TRD X-cab SR5 Auto 4x4 240k miles, one owner clean title, no rust
everything works, maintenance is up to date from what I can tell. Dozens of service records all thru Toyota dealer. The inside is in good condition the outside is probably average condition.
    Thanks for any help

    Rear locker?

In my part of the world, people ask around $10K.

Sounds like it has everything going for it except for the mileage, 240k is getting up there even for a Toyota. I'm assuming that it's the 3.4 v6?

According to NADA it's worth around $9-10k if it's in tip top shape. Personally, I'd never drop 10 grand on a vehicle with a quarter million miles on it but that's just me.

It's all about location! So in New Mexico not too sure, you can used nada or Kbb but with the Tacoma tax (high market values) some times your best bet so to see what's already out on Craigslist in your area and compare other Tacoma, mileage, option year... and you'll find your price.

If you really want for fetch a higher price, take a road trip to the California coast and throw a for sale on your truck it will sell then just fly back ahah

But in your case with the locker and being the 1st owner with all records you might fetch a little bit higher price. If you do decide to sell, it will go quick

At that mileage I would not pay over $7k and that would still be hard.

    Hello Traiman,

I can't give you an accurate price on what you should pay for the 2001 you are describing in your post, but I can tell you this. First generation Tacomas are ridiculously over priced. Part of this is because there is not a lot of them left because of the frame rust issue. Toyota bought back a lot of the infected frame first generation Tacomas when the frame rust problem first became evident about ten years ago. Another reason why first generations are so over priced is that they have an extremely loyal cult following behind them. This is the same kind of mentality first generation Camaros and Mustangs receive. The members on a web site like this are not at all interested in parting with their first generation Tacomas.

Unless you are completely emotionally attached to the body style of first generations, you are much better off putting your efforts in to looking at second generations. You will have way more of a selection, and it will be way easier to find one with a reasonable amount of miles on it. Remember, the newest first generation Tacomas are now 13 years old. I am not saying there aren't any reasonable mileage first generation Tacomas out there, but they certainly are a scarcity.

    Good Luck,
    Paul
