I know this topic has been beaten to death but I'm in need of your sage advice. My beloved silver 2001 manual V6 TRD 4x4 Xtra Cab must go with the pending birth of our first child to make room for a 4 door Gen 2 or 3. The truck is a mighty, loyal beast and minus a door ding and a new rust spot above the passenger side windshield seal, looks great for its age. Originally a CA truck, I purchased it in 2007 as the second owner with 80K well loved Miles and she's been in Los Angeles with me ever since She now has 127K as most of my work for the last 10 years has been overseas and I don't get to do as many long trips as I used to. Mechanically and structurally she's been a dream, I've changed the oil religiously every 3000 miles, plugs every 3 years, transfer case/rear diff oil was changed 2500 miles ago and I just replaced the clutch master cylinder with OEM. I've put on less than 6 hours of off-road in her time with me and just put new Bridgestone Dueler A/T's on less than 1200 miles ago. The timing belt and water pump were on my hot list for this past springtime but I procrastinated when we got pregnant knowing I'd have to sell, so that will fall onto the next owners list (I will be deducting around $700 from my asking price to acknowledge this). Long and short of it, I'm curious to get your feedback on the value of my truck, I want to ask a fair price but I need as much as I can get for it with the kid on the way. So sad to see her go, any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!

No accidents, no paint work minus some toyota color matched paint pen touch-ups to a few chips, no frame issues or rust, clean title in hand, clean interior, no oil leaks.

If it was here in Southern CA, you'd be looking at easily $10k all day long. I'd put it on eBay man. Those little first gens are made of gold here.

*edit* I see you ARE here in LA. If I didn't just buy my 03, I would have given you $10k without thinking twice.

WinstonSalemTacoma: Thanks man, I think I'll try my luck at selling it locally.
Indetrucks: Good to know, thanks for that, I've been planning on throwing it up on eBay and Craigslist when I settle on a number!

Yup I would give him 10K. If he had two more doors, it would get even more.

10k shouldn't be too hard at all to get for her. I sold my 2000 for 13k with 157k miles. I had a lot of upgrades and the whole thing bedlined so once I found someone who found that valuable it sold that day.

You should just give it to me since I'm close by. But these guys saying 10k are crazy. That's California prices not NC prices. Look on craigslist at what they go for, it's crazy. I don't think you will have a problem getting at least 12k out of it, maybe more. That's relatively low miles for a 2001 and you just bought new tires which should cancel out the water pump and timing belt issue.

So are you implying that these 1st gens go for even more in NC than here in CA? Interesting, I always thought CA was on the high end as far as used car values goes, sounds like they are in even higher demand in NC?

But yeah, I was slaying $10k as an easy sale. I don't think it's crazy to think this truck might even get $12k .

I can attest to this as well. I can go home to FL and grab one for cheap and instantly make 1-3k up here without doing a thing.

Can attest to this. Just bought an 01 double cab TRD with 167k miles in NC for $12k however it did have a ton of new work done to it. But NC prices on these trucks is stupid. My truck was considered a "steal".

Should not have a problem selling it in the Piedmont Triad area. It's a big demand for used Tacoma's in Va. and N.C.
