I'd like to replace the front mudflaps on my 2001 Taco TRD. I don't want to pay Toyota's price ($88, MY discounted price - I can't imagine what the list price is). Does anyone have any recommendations and/or suggestions other than leaving them off?

Are the trd flaps different than the standard flaps?

I believe they are. I think they are longer, if not a little wider too. The TRD has higher ground clearance.

I have no idea how to contact YellowDog 01. Neither a forum search nor a Google search came up with anything.

This is a serious question but why would you guys want the flaps on there? The first thing I do with all 3 of the tacomas I've owned is take those dang things off. They are the first thing to get ripped off out in the woods and then it usually does more damage when they get tore off rather than unbolted.

    Bone stock (for now)
    1) Some states require them.

    2) I get paranoid pulling onto the highway after a trail run, and throwing mud and stuff all over the place. All I need is for a rock or something to hit somebody's brand new Audi, and now I owe them a headlight, windshield, or paint job. I realize the flaps aren't guaranteed to prevent the above, but I'll take any insurance I can get.

With that said, I did destroy the front flaps on a trail almost immediately after buying my truck, and haven't replaced them.

Look down the page a little in the box, labeled "Similar Threads".

If those flaps that YellowDog sold 4 years ago were TRD flaps then they look exactly the same as the ones I just took off my SR5 a few months ago.

Actually, that's exactly what happened. They were torn off when I tried to back up in 2 feet of Lousianna mud. The only thing that was damaged was the mudflaps themselves. The mounting points are fine. I gotta say that during the three months we were on that job, everything on the jobsite got stuck, including the crane we hired, EXCEPT my Tacoma. The boss said it should be in a Toyota commercial. Out here in the desert, the flaps protect the paint on the rocker panels. Anyway, I immediately wired the mud flaps back on, and they've put up with everything I could throw at them over the last 208,000 miles. Finally, I noticed the right front disappeared, so now it's time to replace them if I can. It still pretty much looks and drives like a new truck. I'd really like to have them back on the truck. BTW, if y'all have never heard of "board road", they've got plenty of it for rent in Lousianna! <g>

How much are you asking, and how would I go about getting them?
