I have a 2002 2.7l prerunner. Most of the time it drives fine, but I’ve noticed sometimes that it doesn’t want to go hardly at all when I press down the gas, I have to completely floor it and then of course the rpms go crazy. I notice this mainly when I’m stopped at a stop light or sign and then try to go. Any suggestions on what this could be? No check engine light.

    Clogged jets? Weak fuel pressure?

Sorry, beats me, didn't even sleep at holiday in. Easiest thing to check would be air filter. But I've had fuel pump issues before(not tacoma) and hesitation was one symptom. Clogged injectors seems possibles too. See if a bottle of injector cleaner through the tank helps. Shouldn't hurt in any case.

I've had a dirty mass air flow sensor cause that in my 2.7. No CEL, just a bad hesitation when I went from a stop.

Was wondering about that too but my limb was getting thin. What didn't you use to clean it?

Do you notice any difference in the pressure you need to put on the gas pedal? Might be a sticky throttle cable.

My wife has the same truck. I've noticed this on occasion.

It doesn't seem to bother her. When I drive it, I give a quick 1/4 punch of the pedal and the problem is gone for a while.
