2002, 306k miles...worth replacing the head gasket?

    Just a follow up I found the overheating problem was a bad water-pump. Also did a leak-down test and did not find an issue. I replaced the water pump, timing belt, idler pulley. The truck runs great now!

    Did you ask the shop why they told you in needs a head gasket? Were they trying to scam you out of the truck for $300?

    holy old post. My bad haha I didn’t realize that was from July.
    365k right now and running strong. Yes. It is worth the effort. Make sure that you asses the entire cooking system too, because more than likely, an issue in the cooling system lead to the head issue. If you remedy that, it’s easy to see you getting another 200k or more. Just ask @1997tacomav6, I think he’s around 605,000
