My 2002’s sun visor flops down every time I hit a bump. I checked and the part is no longer available from Toyota. Has anyone fixed theirs without a major hassle? I’d prefer to repair rather than replace because mine is in perfect cosmetic shape. I’m looking for tips. Thanks!

I thought I was getting somewhere with letting silicone gasket maker, packed in the hole where the rods goes, harden with the rod the inserted.

And almost decided to get double sticky sided velcro and let it hold the visor to the headliner.

Oh ya. It might be a good time to can a double visor from an old Camry. I have been wanting to see it that would work. The camry has three bolts at the mount instead of two for the tacoma. Butttt, under the headliner the mounts look interchangeableIMG_1891.png ....maybe. Illustration of one of the Camry visors.

    How long ago?
How long ago? I was told this was discontinued and unavailable. At least in tan.

Actually, they said 74320-35680-E0 was the right part number.

Amazon replacements might be a consideration. I've replaced the visors on both my 02 Tacoma and my 06 Tacoma. Both driver and passenger side. My wife just beats the hell out of the visor on her side.

I'll look again, but I didn't see anything on Amazon that fit my truck.

You are correct, it looks like the earliest year now showing on Amazon is 2005. I'm trying to remember how I jury rigged the visor on my 2002 Tacoma (Sold it 4 years ago). Can you get to the shaft where it rotates?
If you can, maybe wrap some material around it? There are used visors showing on Ebay.

I've tried putting things around the shaft with no luck so far. I called my local dealer and he was able to track down a new one somehow. I ordered it, so we will see! If it works, I may take apart my old one to see if I can fix it. If I destroy it at that point it won't really matter. :)

"Flop" on a sunvisor is adjusted by a single "set" screw (not the screws that fasten to the cab roof).Turning that screw pushes it into the rod that supports the visor and adjusts the "flop" COF (Co-efficient Of Friction. I just made that up)

The 01-04’s don’t have the exposed screw, at least some of the ones I’ve seen, might not be true for all. I think they may have the screw, but for whatever unsound reason Toyota decided to bury it under the fabric. I agree it works to tighten that screw, but you’d have to make a hole to in the fabric to access it.IMG_1682.jpg IMG_1681.jpg

I'm going to dig for flop screw or add a screw tomorrow, and tighten it or screw it in to increase the COF factors (my dad liked to use the word 'factors' attached to the end of whatnot)

So far I looked down the open shaft and saw no screw. I’ll try again when unpack at my next job site. The visor is buried under tool and clothes.

Turns out it was gray--not tan. They double checked and there are no tan ("oak") visors available. :-(

Bumped to see if you had any luck finding a set screw.

BTW, I found a "solution" in another thread and it DOES work. You can use a large binder clip to keep it from falling down.
