I broke my door handle on my 02 Tacoma yesterday morning while at the hunting camp. It rained 4-5 days straight and it finally quit and got down to 24* I went to unlock the truck and was going to start it so it could warm up, I pushed on the door all the way around the outside to break the ice to open it, I pulled the handle and crack it broke. My question is when I get new a new handle will I be able to put my lock in it? I have looked a little online but wanted to ask the pro's. I cant believe the damn handle broke that easy, I didn't force it, nothing, just pulled it a little to see if it would move and crack it broke. Thanks for any and all the help.

Yes you can swap your lock into the new handle once you get the old out

Replace with oem handles unless you want to risk replacing again

These were oem handles. I know it was cold and iced up from the rain that night but I still cant believe that they broke so easy. Where do you suggest getting oem handles? I have a junk yard where I live and he has nothing but Toyota's. Should I get them off a truck from there or waste money buying a pair from the dealer? One other thing, if its a 02 Taco what year handles will work?

One more thing, I made a thread a while back about cel coming on and I scanned it and 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 2, 3.4 v-6, it's the sensor behind the cat that comes through the floor board and plugs in under the passenger seat. I have tried everything to get the nuts off to get the sensor out, I have had a new one for a month but I cant get the nuts off, should I just say screw it and take it to a muffler shop or what?

I see no reason not to check your local junk yard, any year 95-04 will work. I wouldn't waste the money buying from a dealer, and people part out on here all the time. In fact, I plan to swap my chrome for black, just haven't gotten around to swapping and then selling my chrome pair.

You like the solid black better? That's what I have now that broke and was going to go back with, my local auto-parts store only have the chrome in stock, but there is a junk yard here that the guy specializes in Toyota's. It's a big yard and probably 90% of his vehicles are Toyota's. That's where I was going to go today.

swapping purely due to aesthetics. There is no quality difference between the oem handles from what I've seen.

Went to the Salvage yard, only had a passenger side handle that was black, I pulled it and 2 driver side chrome and 1 passenger side chrome. I really want the black handles, and I pulled 2 chrome ones because one looks kinda raggedy and I was going to try to polish the other one out. Does anyone know if the chrome handles can be polished? Like to get surface scratches out?

I had a 1998 Toyota Pickup. My plastic door handle broke too. I bought a new one and added a small "L" bracket JB welded in for extra support.

Pensacola, Fl. I get a chubby when I'm pulling in the parking lot. While I was out there the other day, I am starting to get ass sag I noticed he had a few TRD'S like mine and a few other's that had a little lift on them. I'm wondering if I need new springs? If so with my truck being an 02 I wonder if springs from a newer Trd, or a Tundra Trd would fit?
