I'm wanting to do the same thing. I'm guessing you were able to just take off the stepside bed, and bolt on the regular bed? You didn't have to make any mods, changes, to the frame or anything?

I have an '03 regular cab.
Here is a shot of the toolbox I have:

    DSC01203.jpg

    DSC01203.jpg DSC03302.jpg

Where it meets the front of the wheel wells, I had to plasm cut to fit & tigged in a patch.

At the time, it was the only box available that was listed to 'fit'. Price was $260.00'ish. Not sure if there are any others making them as the step sides have since been discontinued.

    Good luck.

Time to revive an old thread.

My lady has a 2002 TRD 4x4 stepside.. I love her truck, but like mine better.

I have a question for you guys. The stepside Tacoma's have these pieces of plastic trim that makes the stepside flush with the truck body and the cab.... And hers are both very loose. It looks like each one has 3-4 screws (probably those plastic push-pins) but they are missing on both sides, completely.

I'm afraid one day we'll lose the piece. Does anyone have any idea of what I need to buy? It's that little piece shown here. Between the step and the cab

I found this bad boy 45 minutes away from home. I was initially going to look at a 4 door 6 cylinder Tacoma, black, very shiny. But as soon as I laid my eyes on this beauty I fell in love and bought it the very next day. It was love at first sight. I got a compliment form a cop the other day. Very rare.

How rare are these Tacoma with stepside? I have a 2001, PreRunner V6, 191K, extra cab....and planning to sell it for 5K; the car is still a beast, but need a new paint job. Should I keep it?

I picked this one a few months back. V6/ Auto, 4wd and only had 79,000 miles on it. New BFG ko2's, Bilstein Lift, and a lot of cleaning and scrubbing... she is coming around. Will be adding a camper shell real soon as well. 20170918_184924.jpg 20170918_184939.jpg

Anyone know who might have/sell the drivers side step side fender flair in silver? Actually any color would work. Daughter took a too tight turn and the pillar won. Thanks in advance.

Is there any indication in the VIN# to indicate whether the truck is a prerunner or sr5 trd?

Let's revive this thread for a bit :)

    I have an 02 tacoma 3.4l 5spd x-cab step side
I'm unable to determine what it is. No tsilgate emblems nor does the original lot sticker describe it as either or

    Hey Hholiday,
Alot of finding info on the step side is pretty much an Easter egg hunt...a little here, a little there. What I've found is there is all the OEM information at Toyota proper. Interesting that any Mfr would keep the info from a 20 YO vehicle is really remarkable.

    Link is: https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle

Use your VIN, sign in/up and you should get a read on what the Mfr sold in it's original form. Step side is not specifically listed, and I've run across mention of em, but don't recall where. Hope this helps.
