I just put 100 down on a Tacoma with 78K miles. Its a TRD Offroad and frame and everything is in great condition. Its a black manual extended cab. What is the first thing I should do to it?

    Too few to list.
I'd say you paid about the right amount for a 2002 with low miles. I paid $13K for a 2002 with 88K miles AC TRD 4x4 manual. First thing you should before buying is recheck the frame again. Plenty of places for rust to hide. If it's good, basic maintenance. All fluids, etc...

If it is clean and checks out, sounds fair.

Without cutting corners on performance, what lift kit would you guys recommend for 2.5-3" of lift?

$17k here for my '04 with 24k miles, so I think you paid a fair price for that mileage. Tacoma's hold their value really well, first gen's especially because they're highly sought after. With a solid, clean frame and everything in working order, I say you scored. Post up some pics when you can!!

Do you plan on offroading it? Lift and tires are a good start if so, as would be armor (bumpers, sliders, etc.) Spend enough time on this site and you'll have a long list and an empty wallet.

I'll off road a little bit, but it will be my daily driver as well.

I'd say you did fine as long as the frame rails are rust free.
I picked up my 2000 SR5 TRD 4x4 manual with 108k last fall for $10,500.
