When I got the truck the shocks on it were totally shot. Was riding on the springs basically.I figured those springs were probably shot .Had another set with some used billy on it so I added the Toy Tech 2" spacer as I had dome with my 97 .I can't stand a soft lean in a turn. they seemed to take care of it for a yr and now they have settled ,plus I got studs welded back on the frame and made bracket to mt my Mantis Brush guard . Now i'm about back to factory level.I'm tall enough with out a lift I have hard time bending my neck to get in and out with out some lift. questions ,i ordered some 5100 Billys was thinking of 5100s stock setting and the Toy Tech spacer to start. ,figuring I could adjust up a notch if needed. ( can they be adjusted on the truck ? don't seem like it ) or bite the wallet for a set of toytec/eibach front coils with the stock settings.Don't really need the 3"s of lift. The springs i have on were a light blue color so guessing not TRD springs .that was back 15 16 yrs ago when I did the frt of my 97 . which was perfect. What I'm looking for is a solid flat cornering truck. any input or advice before I buy springs. ~~OBT~~

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
I have a the toytec coilovers with Bilstein 5100 shocks. Eibach 620 springs. They are a little stiffer than the OME but once settled they ride nice. Almost no body roll with 2" of lift. I really like this setup. Not ideal for hard off-road action but it's a nice driver

That's what i want a 2-2.5 lift and sold sports car road truck .most off -roading i do is hunting season and i just need ground clearance no major Mods . Anyone have a recommend for a safe spring compressor , type make etc. getting in a local shop gets expensive ,then you have to over se that it's done correctly. THX ~~OBT~~

Do it without spring compressor on the truck. Easy to do. Plenty of info here and on you tube on how to do it.

This is on a second gen. On a first gen you have to unbolt tie rod and swaybar also. Done it three times by myself with a partially paralyzed left hand and nine fingers.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yeah I watched that in my searches ,but with the winters we have and the previous owner ,I'm hlaf afraid to try to un bolt anything i don't have to. Went to take off the front tow hows etc to mount the hardware for my Brush guard. I soaked them for 2 weeks on an off with PC Blast Tried heat, all the approved and not methods ,then finally got on 'em with the breaker bar and twisted two off and another the nut welded inside the frame broke loose .the frame had been ck'd and is ok but everything else is rusted. My old 97 looked like new I always car washed the underside during the winter. Also 66+ with a trashed back from a head on in CJ so getting up and down is not so good even on good days. i have the set I took off with collapsed shocks ,and original springs.I fear the spgs are shot as when I got it the top 4 coils were resting on ea other due to the shocks . Got 5100 billy in the mail and thinking of getting some new spgs ,saw AC DElco makes some for the model i have reasonable priced for 02 V6 Auto. and just put them together on the bench when I have a good day. then can just switch 'em out, whats on are older std billy with a 2" Toy Tec spacer loved that set up on the 97 . got enough carp busted up on me don't need a cheapo china compressor to blow on me. Got a 12 ton press in the one garage been thinking how to adapt that to a compressor ~~OBT~~

If your press has a big enough opening do it upside down. Use a couple 2x4s with holes drilled in them for the top plate studs to go into. If your worried about smashing bushing end of shock w/press ram. Put a big socket over it so your pushing on the outer edge of tube.
