Thank you for your opinion. I’ve already trained her and believe it or not I know everyone says it, but she is a good driver and cautious. We live in Cape Hatteras North Carolina, and there is no snow, just roads or sand beaches.

Everybody’s is saying this is a fishtailing truck, it was rainy today & was almost impossible to do. However, I didn’t turn hard and go 40 miles an hours and hit the gas. but I’ll tell you what, my 2020 ram rebel I am way more worried about with my daughter driving . Never thought about it till now. It’s the full four-door and short bed. I can do that no problem in my Ram

These things are pretty weak on power and are only 1 wheel spin without the locker beings on. With good tires, unless you are on ice, I would not say these are prone to fishtailing.

When I was young one of my first cars was a 5.0l Mustang, now that was prone to fishtailing under power.

Just a thought since I'm up the road a bit in Virginia Beach (and you very well might already do this to your vehicles so ignore this if so) it'd be good to Fluid Film her frame at least once a year. (They have cans of it at every Ace down there) I'm near the beach up here and its definitely a good habit to get into, especially since she'll be running around on the island in saltier spots or when 12 or other spots get washed over a bit. Also if she forgets to spray it down after she comes off the ramps. (I wish they had water where they have air hoses, make a quick spray down a bit easier.)
You got her a great truck for the island even if its a bit overdone. *There are some threads around here that can help with body lift removal ( https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-envolved-is-it-to-remove-a-body-lift.160162/ ) or maybe there's a shop you trust that can do it. Though you might have to drive north.

No offense to the others that said so, but they had me believe it before I tried it. It is completely opposite, like you said, the mustang and ram, which is current his way more likely. But I don’t hit it hard either. Hell, I could barely get it to spin on a gravel road.

Right on brother, you’re almost in the same boat as me. I use fluid film all the time on my vessel and vehicles. I haven’t done it yet, but they sell it by the gallon for like 40 bucks and then you can take a spray-gun. Yes, the sand sticks to it, but I’m told it doesn’t really matter. I’m sure it could hurt other parts of the truck that are moving though. But it’s a catch 22. Thanks for the time and your info. as you can see, here’s a photo from a couple days ago that I posted here and I have already put some fluid film on it.

Perfect! Also yeah I got used to a bit of sand sticking haha, it bugged me at first but doesn't seem to hurt unless its super caked on in spots.

My experience is limited. And I pretty much only think of fishtailing in winter conditions and dirt, especially washboard roads. My truck fishtails way easier than full size trucks I've driven, because the Tacoma is so light in the bed. It's all relative. I'm comparing my Tacoma to the full size work trucks I've driven, and my previous Subaru wagons. And I'm talking fishtailing due to slippery conditions on turns, not due to the massive power going to the back wheels, because, of course, these Tacomas don't have massive power. I've never even considered fishtailing in my truck on wet roads. Like I said, I'm talking snow, ice, washboard.

I’m getting these, I have at least one bad bearing. I figured I replace both of them. Hopefully they are the correct ones.

Can't go wrong with a first gen as long as the frame is in good shape. I have a 2001 4 cyl 5 speed TRDOR with 419,000 miles, do regular maintenance and they will keep going. Nice looking truck.

Believe it or not, the frame is in good shape. Good to hear that it’s still going. I think it has about 280,000 miles

Damn. I tried to get my kid into a clean first gen. Found a couple with under 140k miles....but noooooo. Oh well, hope the Corolla S works out well.

Looks like the truck is in great shape. Hard to find these days.

It took me at least six months and gave up a few times, turns out it was only an hour away. The guy I bought it from happen to know some of the same people I do. I didn’t have to, but just put the seat covers on and it makes it kind of her own truck. I just sprayed the fenders with Hercules bedliner, they were all faded as well as the running steps. Hell yeah! That looks sharp.

This is the one I was going to buy for my daughter. 133k miles.
    IMG_3648.jpg

There was a 1999 extra cab TRDOR with 142k miles. 12.5k. Should have purchased it for myself.

Oh I didn't think you overpaid. 1st Gen Tacoma's in Colorado go for mint. I usually don't buy in Colorado unless I can work a deal.

Sorry, I meant for the truck you’re looking at. 1999. I went to flight school in Greeley, Colorado. It used to be the cow meat packing town and I don’t know what it’s like now.

It hasn't changed. Still smells like shit.

I purchased my 1999 TRDOR for 22.5 brand new and my wife paid 22k for her 2000 TRDOR off the lot. I can't believe all these years later they cost this much. The silver 4 door I posted above is going for 14.5k.
