2002 Tacoma

Hey guys my name is Omar and I have a 2002 Tacoma prerunner v6 5 speed with a few mods on it. Not my first Tacoma but my first Tacoma I’m building. I bought it already mostly built but want to add more things of course lol looking to add a larger gas tank, I hate this 15 gal tank only latest me about 2 days 235 miles on a full tank. I’ve been looking but not that many options for the 1st gen. I don’t have a spare tire so I have the space, but I have AAA so it will work out for daily driving. Have a spare I would carry when I go off-roading of course. Have a lot of plans for it but I think the gas tank is my first major upgrade. Looking for the easiest and not cheapest but yes the cheaper the better.

The 4x4 tank is 18 gal and fits PreRunner.

 

Thanks for the welcome in. My truck is a 4x4 and I’m sure it’s a 15 gal would need more then a 3 gal upgrade but would probably replace the 15 gal with a 18 gal if I can’t find anything bigger while I do real project to up grade. Looking for 30 gal upgrade

 

Do you have to pass California emissions test?
They're strict on EVAP modifications.

 

Yes I do but I don’t think they do an evap test. I believe it’s only fir 1997 and under.

 

The engine ready check includes EVAP.
California add a gas tank has been discussed many times on TW.
OEM 18 gal tank only way to go in California.
