Unless one side of the e-brake is stuck on, it wouldn't effect "pulling while braking". The e-brake is completely mechanical. If it's not working on one side, it means something is seized- probably the bell crank.

That would be tough to say they should always be the same, nor have I measured enough to know what an acceptable difference would be. However, If you haven't replaced your calipers before, it's probably worth it.

If I were in your shoes, I'd also be checking rolling resistance on each of the wheels. Maybe a bearing is toast and you only notice the drag while breaking.

I just replaced wheel bearings on both sides oem ones and both calipers were changed as well then I replaced them again for that reason to see if they were sticking

So did the "Tacoma guy" clarify anything regarding your rear brakes? I still feel like you need to fix your emergency brake issue to confirm that your rear brakes are working.

You should also work to ensure that your LSPV is actually working.

Where are you at? I feel like we need someone from this forum to just come visit you and take a look.

You bleed the LSPV yet? Maybe one of the rear drums isn’t engaging because of an air bubble. Should take about 3 minutes to rule this out.

Here it is on my 2000, right behind the rear driver tire. Have a friend pump and hold the brake and then briefly crack and close the bleeder valve circled (with a hose and bottle attached if you so choose). If you get a big spit of air, do it a few times and then bleed the rest of the brakes in order, that may have been your problem. If you get a solid stream of fluid it was probably fine and you can rule it out. it’s the highest/furthest point in the system so most likely to trap air and should be your first stop in the bleed sequence.

Good luck! Agreed not a likely culprit but free and easy, so worth a shot! I could imagine a scenario where one drum is bunk because of some air so you’ve possible got disproportionally more stopping power in the other side?

I don’t know if this is a problem with it but when I pull my emergency brake one side locks up but the other doesn’t

How many more parts are you going to let this guy throw at the truck before someone pulls the rear drums and looks to see if the shoes are adjusted properly?

If the one side is not stuck engaged then I wouldn’t think so, that is a mechanical system separate from the main brakes. But I’ve stopped being surprised with some of the issues I’ve encountered considering it’s an almost 25 year old vehicle!
