Hi! 99% of the time my Tacoma starts & idles fine. About 2 weeks ago my wife brought it home & it died in the driveway. When this happens, it's exactly like an idle adjustment has changed, but it always starts again with the gas pedal slightly depressed. It then behaves normally.
This began when the low gas warning light was on, and my wife was too busy to get gas. I'm wondering if the fuel filter is clogged or if it has a dirty fuel injection system.

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
Sound's fuel related..is it misfiring too though? from say spark issue?

Sounds fuel related IMO though if it's not missing.
Fuel filter's are a bitch to do..gotta do them through the driver side fender well and work your way through all the hardlines.
Goodluck..it's a PITA. I ended up saying about 35 cuss words as I spent 45 minutes doing it.

How many miles are on them? Injectors could be due for a flow, balance and new o rings/seats/baskets. Run about $15-25 each injector to get that done.

Look at throttle body, if it's dirty..take it off truck and clean it.

No misfiring at all, once it's running.
Just the oddball occasion when it doesn't want to start or dies at idle, when it's warmed up.
Thanks for the warning about the filter location.
My 1st gen. Camaro's fuel filter juts out & practically hits ya in the face.
Why, oh why, aren't engineers forced to design-in easy accessibility for maintenance items?
I think they need to get their fingernails dirtier, before graduating. :)
